  • since when does a 'restaurant' make you queue up to get food, pay in advance, no receipt, and then get the hump when you ask for more than one wafer thin napkin?
Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)

I'm just not fat. Therefore I find a burger and chips quite enough on the very rare occasion I attend a macdonalds restaurant.

You mean the Mcdonalds fast food establishment. It's not a restaurant. Well not for classy people like me anyway ;)

Exactly. Guess some people have low standards!

So if it's not three courses it's not a meal. That's an interesting perspective to adopt! Incidentally frankies is awful. An absolutely terrible place to go. The food is all frozen then fried up

The 12' Californian pizza is the least offensive item on the menu. But I agree it is a terrible place. Sometimes it is just where people want to meet up though because it is central to everyone. Just have to lump it under those circumstances.
Don't grow up. Its a trap!

Depends what you mean by low standards? If you think its an example of low standards by referring to a "Fast food restaurant" as a "Fast food restaurant" then so be it.

Personally I don't like going to any generic chain restaurant, however my likes or dislikes don't affect the fact that a Macdonalds is a "fast food restaurant". Argue all you like but thats what it is!

I had a fish from there about 3 months ago as I was forced to have a "team lunch" and the people who work for me love F & B's. Absolutely awful, i have never seen anything like it before!

a restuarant by definition is "a commercial establishment where meals are prepared and served to customers"

    Macdonalds fits that description.

Just before some one says its not a meal it is a snack.
Meal is a portion of food that consists of 200kcals.
Which I think all the burgers will have far more than.

Suppose people could argue that it's not a meal as such,. You're not given a 'meal' but individually packaged items of food.

Personally I don't care but the whole restaurant issue started because one person said they don't class them as restaurants. It doesn't mean they are or they aren't, but one person's personal definition is different.

It was me. I don't class the local greasy spoon cafe at the bus station as a restaurant either.

I will grudgingly admit that Pizza Hut is a restaurant but only if the word pizza is in front of the title.

But Burger King isn't a restaurant either.

Maybe this should be in discussion time?
