Claiming against bank which does your mortgage (merged)

Presuming the mortgage account is up-to-date with payments, there is nothing to worry about.
A mortgage is completely separate from your current account (unlike an overdraft, which can be called in).0 -
I have a Royal Bank of Scotland mortgage and business loan which I am tied into for 18 months. However i would like to reclaim charges from RBS for my current account. Any tips or advice would be appreciated. Thanks0

Have reclaimed some charges from some CC's and have now decided to start on the Halifax. I currently still have accounts with them but am so pd off at them at the moment that I'm in the process of opening an account elsewhere. Have calculated up my charges to reclaim but am hesitant to reclain as my mortgage is also with the Halifax. Will my reclaiming charges had a detrimental effect on this? My fixed rate is up for renewal in October and don't want to turn up for my mortgage review only to be told to s0d off.
Any advice here would be much appreciated0 -
I am planning to reclaim bank charges from the Abbey but I also have my mortgage with them.. I understand that some people have had their bank accounts closed by the banks but does anyone know if there is any possibility of it affecting my mortgage.
I can cope with them closing down my bank account but the mortgage is a different matter altogether.
Thanks.0 -

If mortgage payments are up to date, it's very unlikely it will be affected.0 -

The mortgage is a seperate agreement, so if it's up to date with repayments, it shouldn't be touched.
On another note, when you mortgage rate is up for review, it may be prudent to shop around to see if you can get something better elsewhere.0 -
I would like to know if anyone can give advice on my situation!
I hold a flexaccount with nationwide,so does my partner.we also have a joint account and a morgage with them. we would both like to claim back all the charges for the 3 accounts we hold with them.
Does anyone know what will happen if we go ahead - will they threaten us with closing all accounts and tell us to go else where? we are tied in to our mortgage for another yearso have no option but to stay with them. many thanks for any advice!0 -

They will almost certainley not close your account as they still want their mortgage payment.
I would claim from them.the way forward is the consumer action group .co.uk0 -
Hi
Sorry if this question has been asked before, I have been looking through and can't find anything on it.
I have my mortgage with the RBS its a Virgin One account and it is also my current account. In Novemeber we were having money troubles and we kept the bank informed but they still charged us in 30days £552 in bank charges, in a total of 3 months we have been charged £1200+ in charges! we spoke to them and said that this was a unfair amount and that they were just adding to our financial situation, they said they would look into it, and of course said it was our own faults and that they would not refund them.
We have asked for the details of the bank charges, but they have only given us statements for the last 2 years, I have just seen your template letter and will be using that to get the remaining years statements.
My concern is, that because this account is tied in with our mortgage where do we stand with them? if they try to close the account do we lose our house? We are not in a position to change our mortgage in our current financial situation so we feel like they have us over a barrel.
Has anyone else tried to reclaim their charges from RBS? and been sucessful with it effecting the mortgage??
Any advice would be appreciatedIf you like what I say please say thanks

Do you use their on line banking ? If so then you can go back as long as you want and look at your statements on line.0
