Cheers guys. running well at the moment but as stated it does sometimes go ok anyway.
Re the internet speed - are those speeds ok - 6-7 ish download, 0.37 upload, 0.5 ping? I'm with madasafish which advertise up to 8mg so i guess 7 is not bad, but i know some go up to 100 (I'm in Leeds though, not sure if available here anyway)And if, you know, your history...0 -
internet speed is mainly dependant on your line stats and the package you're on, without knowing those commenting on the speed would be a complete stab in the dark. If you want to post them for further comment, log into your router and post them up here, in particular line rate, attenuation and snrm for both up & downstream......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
How do I log onto the router? And if, you know, your history...0

When I click on safecom it just says:
Under the hood its a origo/conexant based router.
From the web interface http://10.0.0.2
> ADSL Line Status
Default username = "admin".
Password can vary but try epicrouter or leave blank
Doesn't tell me how to log in or anything? When I click on the 10.0.0 thing nothing happens - it wont load. And if, you know, your history...0 -

You didn't answer the previous "who is your ISP" question but this router will have a model number.
See if this works here. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
dixie_dean wrote: »My computer is really really slow. I've been on before and had some help and loooked at the guide but it's all quite complex for total beginners. Just looked online and came accross Web Minds Reg Ace, some sort of registry cleaner. On a free scan they claim to have found about 2000 "problems" with my system. Is this type of thing any good and are there any free versions people would recommend? Or, failing that, any really, really basic steps I can btake to try and speed up my computer?
Cheers

If you want to speed your computer up try Tuneup Utilities. This site has legal (promotion serial) keys for the 2008 version

That is not the advice normally given on this forum - investigation is much better than a poke & hope approach! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Nice but most people only know how to use Windows as they would to drive a car but not know how to maintain it, this does everything for them.
Certainly saved me a lot of time putting it on the families laptops/computers0 -
