Hmm, risky business that. You've basically admitted now that you have evaded your fare. You DID NOT pay for the service you have used, therefore you are a thief (but then we already knew that, you just tried masking it behind the fact that you'd have paid a PF up-front!). If the RPIs had done their job correctly on this occasion, I can almost certainly say that a PF would not be on the cards, and you'd have probably been reported for your trouble. You can quite easily been caught out through routine questioning, you do realise that, don't you?

Nope let's agree to disagree on that one. For all you know I could actually live in China so if you want to invest TOC time in catching me it proves how stupid you are. One moment you accuse me of being a troll then the next you take what I write to be factually true. You sir are inconsistent. You either believe what I am saying or don't believe you can't chop and change. If you do go to the bosses and say let's catch ilovecandy a guy who online says he skips the train they will laugh you out of the room the same way me and Geordie taxi have. So this is a disclaimer i am now writing which may be true or false but covers me from everything I have said in this forum- I have never skipped the train in my life, when i said I skipped from Sturry it wasn't an admission of guild it was purely to wind up Stiggy and his TOC employees. You can either chose to believe this disclaimer or not. you may simply think i am writing it because i am worried about increased scrutiny at Canterbury as a result of my earlier post. Either way, it doesn't matter, a disclaimer is a disclaimer.

Does anyone know how I can avoid paying a fare in Geordies Taxi, he wont mind as he is all for fare evasion and saving money

First of all you would need to get a job to be able to afford the fare

I avoid paying the train fare to work most days by staying at home.

By work do you mean jobcentre?

So they just call in the BTP. Advice like that is going to get your mate banged up.

"Banged up" lol police these day don't even lock up people who carry knives let alone fare dodgers.. give me a break...

    Whats a twink

You cannot be against anyone avoiding paying you a fare though after all you have been advocating it for the whole of this thread

If you are against fare evasion in cabs, are you? why are you not against fare evasion on the railway

First of all let me just jump in here. Taxi's and trains are completely different. I for one always tip taxi drivers. The only tip I would leave on the train would be a turd. Taxi drivers provide a personal service and take you directly where you want to go. Trains take you somewhere in the middle of town and are pretty much more expensive as taxi's these days anyway. In a taxi you travel in comfort and don't have to share the space with anyone you don't chose to. taxi's rule and trains drool.

You are back-tracking, because you're worried that SET trains will be looking extra vigilantly for thieves. By typing a silly little disclaimer, you've proved this.

Why would they do that? You said yourself I'd be laughed at if I dropped SET trains an email (and you called me inconsistant?). Having said that, they are interested in intelligence regarding thieves. We'll have to see. Also, you do realise you're still committing an offence if you travel beyond validity of your ticket or similar, don't you? Just because you haven't been checked, doesn't mean you won't be. Or are you of the opinion that something is only illegal if you get caught?
  • Hi,

Just to clear this up a little bit, there are 2 levels of penalty that you can recieve for not paying a fare. You can be handed a penalty fare (usually £20) which can be issued by quite a few railway staff, get your statutory time to pay the fine or appeal (expensive fares will never, ever be reason enough to uphold an appeal) or you can be given a notice which usually means that you get a court summons straight away as you have deliberately intended to defraud the railway (ie, walking past open ticket office/past ticket machine, hiding in loos on train, multiple penalty fares etc). This is where the £1000 fine comes into play. I don't wish to feed the trolls, but as someone who has the tiresome task of trying to get people to show me their tickets on the train I wanted to make sure that the lines didn't get blurred with alleged loopholes.

End of the day, you wouldn't get on a bus without paying the driver so why is a train any different? It's also not fair on other honest passengers who pay the full price to also sit in an often crowded train to go to work who fork out for their tickets day after day, week after week, month after month who will subsidise those who believe that they shouldn't have to pay for whatever (non) reason.

Hopefully not - I just avoid going into the office and work from home.
