Southeastern Railway charge me £20 penalty fare

I was charged a £20 penalty fare before x-mas on Southeastern Railway. What happened was that I arrived at the station, there was rilway officer who did not let me through the gates like usually to buy ticket, but this time they charged me £20,
They asked full name and address like usually, these details i give was correct, but the date of birth i give was wrong :) so in case if i will not pay this fare, can they do something against me in court? Because the final Fine is quite big £1,000 in case if i don't want to pay in next 14 days.

I'm sure that lying about your DoB means that you are immune to any fine or court action. Well done, not many people know about this loophole.

(Some of the above might not be completely true.)
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

They have your real name and address so it wont take a rocket scientist to track you down.

I very much doubt this will work but by all means let us know how it goes if you have 1k to gamble with.
  • Name and Address is more important than DOB, with that info they can trace you, then they can use the CCTV at the station to positively identify for a prosecution. That, however, depends on how much resources it take to track you down, only time will tell; ie if you don't pay the £20 Penalty fare and if then you don't get a letter of intended prosecution around 2 to 8 week later then you know you've got away with it.

And by this time it's most probably escalated into a Magistrates Court case, you've got to ask yourself now is it worth it for £20???????????????????

Good Luck, you may need it

That would not work at my local station as you have to provide your address or they phone up and check the electoral register. If they can't confirm your name/address they are likely to call a BRTP officer.

Here's an idea... get a ticket before boarding and hey presto! No issues.

    5t.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

Well done, you're a moron. In future if you buy a ticket (probably quite a bit cheaper than a £20 fine) then you won't have this issue.
I should also point out it is an offence to fail to provide the correct details.
