If you got caught about 3 times then they would take you to court and prosecute you. They wouldnt just keep on making you pay the PF as you would be classed as a persistant fare evader and they would make sure they got the highest penalty possible for you.

Dont risk it. Change jobs or use bus/coach to get to/from work.

i have never stolen anything in my life or skipped a train before but i have no other choice, no insulting replies please

I tell you one reason why fares go up, it's because people like you are riding the train for free and people like me are paying for it!

You are unlikely to get away with it much as I imagine you have a good chance of having your ticket checked either on the train or having to use ticket barriers at either end.

If you get penalty fared, you also have to pay the standard undiscounted ticket price, so that and the 20 quid makes the journey even more expensive than it should be.

I advise (especially as it seems to be so critical to your job) that you find a better solution to your problem.

people like me....... how dare you... i have paid my fare for years without skipping and you dare to judge me... i specifically asked for no stupid responses. i cant afford the increased fare. all i wanted to know is how many 20 pound fines can you get in a year before they take you to court

Lol, tbh your attempt at fare evasion deserves a stupid answer, however, as this is a public forum, people are entitled to give any answer they feel fits the question asked.

1 penalty fare you'll get away with, 2 and you'll be marked on the system and 3 will be the max, before your off to court as a serial fare evader and as geordieracer correctly stated you could face the max fine as this offence won't be seen as a one off incident.

what are you basing that on... is that a guess or is that somewhere in terms and conditions? it doesn't seem to me you know what you are talking about...

just because you dont know the answer to my question doesnt mean you should call me a troll. it is rude and disrespectful. i am only asking as i want to avoid a criminal record at all costs and wanted to know if say i get caught 50 times in a year whether they would take me to court.

Well yes, I do dare to judge you - the excuse of having paid your fare for years isn't going to wash with me, and it certainly wouldn't wash with a judge when you get taken to court for continuously skipping you fare.

You asked for no stupid responses, well I don't think anything in my response was stupid. Pretty fairly structured actually.

I, like lots of people, can't afford many things now but we have to make do and make little cuts here and there. You wouldn't wander into Sainsburys every week, steal the food and expect to get away with it so why does the same apply to the railways?!
