Hi guys
Yes it's been a good day. OH says he only read the first page of his account so that's why he thought it was lower....DOH I thought ( and said;)) so it's not a mistake:T
We had a lovely coffee and baklava..nice to just chat. Feels calmer than when we are at home, rushing, being parents...well you can imagine/know how it is.
Cheaper swimming went really well..altho why can't municipal type pools have lockers that work:mad: at this rate I will just have to start complaining!! But lessons were good which is the main thing. The girls actually enjoyed them which is nothing short of a miracle:D We spent £15 in the end on our tea. There were 4 drinks in that ( and plenty of water!) as DD1 found it pretty spicy( it's a great new Kashmiri place) and we were stuffed afterwards so that was our tea. I now have a fish pie all ready for tomorrow so no harm done and will update spends spreaddie accordingly.
Thanks for the advice on the chooks Lucielle. It's our fault for having bantams as they are perfect mums ( have been tempted to put a clutch under her but fear it would be too much temptation even for our cat who usually guards them!) but our Pekin is very tenacious when she goes. I will try and take her off and keep her segregated I think so the others can still find the nest. Will keep you posted!
Piq...loving the idea of Lakeland as bedtime reading...if you give them some free publicity on your blog maybe you will get a free Remoska ( I hear they are truly a thing of beauty:p)
NL..aaaw thanks! I do feel like its been a good start to the week!
Hope everyone has had a good day

I already have a Remoska, I've had it about four years now it is used extensively. Really cheap to use, far better use of electricity than my fan oven. The food is delicious too.
I love kitchen type books and stuff type shops definitely a weakness. I read recipe books in bed, I have a stack of them next to the bed:o

Ah this is reminding me of the first time I got Nigella's how to eat..2000. I sat in bed reading it like a novel....even now I love that book as it is written by someone who really loves food, companionship and the social side of sharing food!!! ( getting hungry just thinking about it)
OK..so ask for some Bakoglide then!! I do wonder about a Remoska..but don't think I can justify another kitchen gadget just yet!! I would prefer to see the mortgage free date come earlier..now how sad is that!! ( or a sign that I am truly changing!!;-)MFiT-T4 Member No. 96 - 2022 is my MF goal

Yes, I like reading her books, but my all time favourite is Nigel Slater, he is my sort of cook. It's very much a grab what you've got, keep it simple and throw it in and it works, his food is delicious!
I've had the Remoska ages, I wouldn't buy one now as I'm saving money. However, it is one of those items that does pay for itself in the electricity it saves. It cooks very well and keeps the food very succulent, I wouldn't e*bay it, even though it would sell well.

Hmm.thanks for that. I may add it to the list, but need a mixer first. My grandmother's conked out on me about 3 weeks ago. It had lasted 26 years by my reckoning..maybe more so I can't complain!
I will also adopt a one in, one out rule..I refuse to have even more crammed in my kitchen cupboards..room needs to be made first! But which one to remove. OK so here is a quick list...
We have a:
- raclette
- fondue set ( can you tell I love mountain food!)
- ice cream maker..it's top, but takes up a lot of room on bench as has a refrigeration unit
- magimix..it's fab, but was pricey..bought about 8 years ago
- juicer
- electric hand whisk
- bread maker
So....which one would you sell/ get rid of??!! This is my problem! I love them all!
Hope everyone is having a good day

I've always wanted an ice-cream maker with a refrigeration unit - envy. I think you should get rid of it and give it to me!
Seriously, do you use the fondue set? That's what would go if it were my list and I'm not sure what a raclette is, don't know as much about cookery as I thought I did!:rotfl:
When I'm rich I'm going to have a KitchenAid mixer in black, I've lusted after one for years now...

Hi Piq
the ice cream maker..well the story behind that is that OH had a big birthday last year...and I got it for him as a present!! (Reminds me of the kitchen utensil conversation on Happy's thread (I think it was) a few weeks ago!)..luckily he loves it:rotfl:
The DDs love the raclette..you have little pans that you stick under a communal grill...potatoes, meat..that sort of thing. Makes us think of the Alps every time. Yes it is the fondue that gets used least..or maybe the juicer. We used to use that loads but not as much now. Although having said that, the year before last we juiced hundreds of apples from our apple tree over the Autumn..we didn't buy apple juice for weeks.
Hmm..maybe I just need to get shot of baking stuff, serving dishes, tins, tiffin boxes... when I think about it the cupboards are FULL of stuff I hardly use..and I have (supposedly) decluttered very recently..in fact sent a whole load of crockery to CS:eek:MFiT-T4 Member No. 96 - 2022 is my MF goal
