I love making do with what's in the cupboard when cooking. It makes cooking a meal a challenge. It normally turns out just fine.

Once, however, I had a delivery substitution from T*sc* that beat me. In their wisdom, instead of fresh prawns they delivered bananas! I think I was doing a meal and was planning on serving buttered chilli and garlic prawns. Not quite the same with bananas...

    Piq

:insert confused smiley here: how on earth did they think bananas were a suitable substitute for prawns :rotfl:
Oh no !! Can you imagine serving chillied bananas up ?!! The worst substitutions I have ever received were, a loaf of Wholemeal substituted for Nimble Bread ( as if there are noother brands of bread out there !) and a bottle of Pinot for a bottle of Bacardi ! That one wasnt too bad a substitution though ! :D

oooooh i would love for my pinot to be substituted for bottles of bacardi i hope they brought the coca cola with it too :rotfl:!

Morning Brizzle :) just checking in for a catch up.

I always used to request no substitutions, but I remember reading on here about someone ordering fresh lemons and receiving a substitution of Cif Lemon Bathroom Cleaner! Now that would RUIN your pancakes :D.

Do you think the 'pickers' in the stores just have to get their kicks where they can:rotfl: maybe they just imagine the confused, incredulous faces of the customer as they substitute cleaner for juice on the pancakes and white rum for red wine!!!! It must however make the job much more interesting!!

Heading for a NSD today!! Whoop!!! Assuming we can get home on existing tank of fuel. A NSD is the goal anyway! Yesterday bought some bits of groceries and on Friday bought fuel but we are trying to be restrained as a household...especially given the laptop yadda yadda...:(

Gorgeously sunny here...I like the Midlands :D

:rotfl:The packers must be on a dare, to get the most outrageous substitution in. That is so funny though...

    Hi everyone

Feel like I have lost track of the diaries, dipped in here and there a bit over weekend (if I didn't get to you will be there soon I promise!) but never as much as I like and still need to get to the blog, Piq :D)

So, as ever its the small things that make the difference so today I have:

    - made PADS and check banking. Lovely peeps - I am so pleased, I can hardly believe it. OH has had a bigger payment than he expected for freelance work (150% more!!...for someone who is good with numbers he is the 'king of the inaccurate' when it comes to our finances!! I am in shock...hope theres no mistake but it shows as coming into our account today:D)..woo hoo:j:j. So made some really big PADs immediately and an OP to the mortgage too. the current account hasnt looked this healthy in ages :D Will be off to update sigs and make plans later - its such good news after some unexpected bills eg. Tax and laptop repairs..and maybe a new snowboard. he cracked the core of the year old one  and S&R say its irreparable:eek:..I say get a second opinion!)

    - ordered an online delivery from Sainsbugs using the £10 MOC, used a list but didnt want to pay delivery either so have upped it to £100 including staples

    Today I will:

    - [STRIKE]update spends spreaddies for last few days..NSD No.6 bagged yesterday so thats good news[/STRIKE] Looking quite good but as ever groceries bills so far this month are around 50% of budget so no little buffer there. There is on some other categories though, interestingly

    - [STRIKE]put washing on low and then dry on line[/STRIKE] first load out. Second on way

    - [STRIKE]put a loaf on in BM[/STRIKE]

    - meet OH for a coffee rather than lunch..we need to see more of each other. Bit disconnected at mo:(...lots going on some of which is very stressful so need to work on quality time where we can

    - decluttered 4 bags of clothes and shoes to my niece over weekend. My sis was very pleased and I was pleased to see them go to a good home!

    - have promised DC a snack on way home from new (cheaper!) swimming lessons... but will keep it under £10, support a new lovely business that are always good to us and make a fish pie from stores for proper tea

    - ask the chooks to carry on laying. Chooks doing really well on eggs..neighbours got 6 when we were away and they were looking after the menagerie..they were really pleased. Long may it continue and the broodiness be kept at bay!! Hmmm.. think one is thinking about getting broody..darn. Will have to cage her as it puts the others off. Any other hen keepers got any ideas on how to either stop her getting broody or keep the phase as short as poss?

    - weather looking good - am hoping to break the £500 barrier on the panels. I have been forecasting £512 min over a full year (ending end June) so if we can get there by mid April I will be very pleased:D. The rest can all go towards the additional money I need to raise on the POAMAYC challenge Well I never..we are at £504 already..great news..

In the post today were 2 catalogues. They were a Lakeland catalogue and a H*bbs invite...so I read (! you see I am trying to push myself a little here..is it CBT??) ) them and then immediately recycled both...unheard of behaviour!! I am feeling quite pleased with myself;)

Think thats it - have a good day folks
