Thanks Piq..I do appreciate that it's hard when others are out of work. It's not of the scale that I got in my previous role but every little helps and it'll be very handy for the POAYC challenge.

Don't be daft! I am so genuinely pleased for you, as you are when nice things happen to your friends on other threads.

Now get on and work out which debts are going to get a beating...

Caveats include that my take home may go down with the new car. I need to look at the next pay slip and see what the tax implications are.

I am also sure that some will think I am nuts having a £300 buffer each month when actually that should all be spent on paying down the CCs. You may be right but I think its more realistic at the moment to assume that we will go over.

Groceries are still a sore subject. Just can't seem to get this down even with meal planning, never throwing food away, cooking from scratch etc. Some of it is choices over local shops and organic I know.

The investments are all ISAs. Mixture of equities and cash. the regular savings are all against the mortgage.

Some categories eg. childcare and newspapers regular readers will see have reduced. Need one last check up for the contacts and then this can be reduced also.

The plan is still to build up as big an overpayment post as possible in the mortgage account and then use it to pay off the remaining balance on the CCs. However I do need to stop spending on the CCs and pay them down as much as possible in the next 8 months.

So work in progress but wanted to get this up there and in the open.:)

    Hi jwil..

Its £700!!! But having a pang re whether we can let it out to strangers. Need to find out more about the agency too. Creditworthiness- read their insurance policies etc. ut it would certainly help the POAMAYC challenge which has slowed down. Altho must add in another £21 from A sales.

Hows you jwil- know youve been feeling a little flat- hope things pick up soon

Wow, that's amazing! I'm not sure if we'd want to hire ours out though.

I'm ok thanks, still a bit on edge, but fine really :)

I read your SOA as £102 a month on cleaning products  :rotfl: Then I spotted the cleaner bit :o

Looking pretty good though! The buffer makes sense, if it's still there at the end of the month, or when you've got a bit put back you can always pay it towards the cards then.

What are you getting from the internet for £30 per month? I'm on an unlimited package for £12 per month. Admittedly it's a bit crap sometimes but I think that may be down to the phone line as I didn't have the same problems at the previous house.

Ha ha..blimey if you saw my house and the state it is usually in then you would know I did not spend £102 pm on products..it would be an impossibility!!:rotfl:

    Thanks for the support.

The internet package is phone, broadband, unlimited data and a BT Vision Box. What do you think? I am OK with staying with BT as can keep my family email account but if we can make a big difference may be worth looking at it.

Have just lost a longer post. The good news is that I have completed my tax return which was not the horror I thought it would be (well completing it that is). The bad news...very bad news :eek::mad::mad: ..so 2 good bits of news and one very poor (think it was Mrs PG who thought it might be a good 3.. rather sorry that prophecy did not come good..unless I then win the lottery (and I don't even play!)) is that HMRC reckon I owe them £2.3k. Yes you did read that right so too much to put onto this year..I think they want it as a lump sum, immediately.:( (altho advice welcomed on whether I can plead hardship and ask for staggered payments)

I will get OH to check my maths/data inputting skills but I think they are right. I am just cheesed off at my previous employer not being able to collect the right tax. My affairs are hardly complicated..only 1 job at a time etc etc.

This is SO not part of the plan..as all you lovely peeps know the plan is debt busting!!

PS I don't think there is a smilie that is quite cross enough to sum up how I feel right now!!

 to the tax return. I don't know anything about it, but I would certainly ask for installments.

That's not bad then with the internet, I just thought it was expensive if it was only internet. What do you think of the BT Vision? I keep looking at it, but can't grasp what you actually get and whether it is any good.

Thanks jwil..I will send them a message when I finally submit the thing. My finances took a real hit this year ( as you know) so its not like that FY was symptomatic of what I am earning this year..so I am hoping that I can make a good case for instalments.

BT vision. It's a hard drive really which allows you to watch Freeview and play and record TV. There are probably subscription channels ( have not really looked) and you can buy films off a list to use within x days..like Love Film or a hire shop I guess..but instant and you don't have to move off the sofa! We have had it years so seems to work for us.

I would look into it. As I said it works for us.

    Have a great weekend

brizzled Just been reading back through your last few posts and was wondering how you could pay your tax bill. I just remembered that DH is going to start paying his via his PAYE tax bill. It means that he has a different tax code for the coming year but paying it as he earns is making it seem a lot less of a problem. It might be worth asking if you can pay it via your tax which is taken off at source through work. Though it might be a bit late for 2012-13 they might extend it to 13-14.

  • Well done on getting your tax return done. Just sorry the outcome wasn't better. :( I agree with poohbear. I'm sure Mr F did something similar when we were in the UK. It's such a pain when payroll get it wrong. Like you say it's not that difficult, especially when you only have one job!
