Should be able to get below £5k before Xmas if I am careful. Looked at price of an organic turkey today...HELP!!.. If we have traditional dinner it will be pheasant or chicken. Family have already been told! :rotfl:

Could you see if you have a local smallholder group where some of the members rear their own turkeys?

I am a member of a group and we and others rear turkeys for Xmas. We only sell a few and keep the rest for ourselves but we are the same price as a frozen turkey in the supermarket.

Our turkeys are not organic but they are more free-range than a lot of turkeys sold by the big firms - our turkeys roam over 2 acres all day every day and never get locked up. (It is the food we give them that is not organic)

    Thanks HOK3Y and EE

It's a great feeling and has lasted into the early start today which is a good thing :)

I will look into local sourcing, thanks for the tip EE but as it's only 4 of us for lunch may just stop at a smaller bird ;)

    Have a great day

Congratulations on the 5's that's awesome :D you're doing so well and I don't doubt for one second that you'll make it before the end of the financial year :)

OH is veggie so I'm glad we don't have to pay stupid prices for birds, although cashew nuts for nut roast are really NOT cheap either.

    Thanks everyone :D

An eve away and the hotel has a gym and pool..so ran for 30mins!! Yay! It felt great and you never know may even get in the pool tomorrow before work. Also only drinking water so feel doubly healthy! There are some advantages to being away even though being at home would be great..miss DDs and OH quite a bit :(

A NSD from me.. But see (the joys of having the spends in the cloud!:rotfl: ) that OH spent on Ebay fees and postage..oh well had to be done! Trying to think of what else we can do to raise cash..apart from anything illegal I am beginning to run out of ideas and lodger rent for next month needs to go on the insurances...hmm. Maybe more Ebay. Haven't attacked the kitchen yet. Wonder if there are any gadgets we could sell. Haven't used the juicer in months for example...but it is great when you have lots of left over veggies and fruit. Have started surveys but fear it will be years before I get a pay out.

OH and I started talking about what we might do when we are DF. Given all this chat about interest rates rising think it will have to be mortgage OPs..no let up for us! But nice to think about what we could do with c.£1.8k per month! OK it fluctuates but if we really battened down the hatches we could have that spare every month. Makes me sick to think about it...

    Hope everyone is OK

  • Evening Brizzle, won't be long and you'll be hammering the mortgage down.

Will try Tilly, but not turning out to be the early evening I planned!

£22 ebay sales this eve...am pleased about that. But no watchers on the rest :(. Think big place to make savings over next 4 weeks is groceries ( as always!) and entertainment/fun/leisure. Will have a word with OH and agree and stick to a strict budget. We are increasingly thoughtful about spends but a few things are creeping in..
