  • Todays finds for me in the village co-op are Silverside roasting joint was £8.83 reduced to £3.75, cherry tomatoes reduced from £1.00 to 35p and two 750g packs of onions reduced from 79p to 35p each then I visited the local One Stop Shop and picked up two Hovis loaves for 75p each reduced fron £1.25p and £1.39p respectively. Good savings methinks.

    Hi,

Well I had a very successful night last night in Mr T.

We got 500g lamb for 50p (should have been £5)
    Finest beef mince 35p
    Sirloin Steak 40p
    New Covent Garden Soup 10p
    Humous 12p
    Quiche 14p
Pastry-sweet and savoury 15p-22p, i couldn't make it for that so have stocked up
Loads of veg-carrots, stew pack, broc, cauli, sprouts, toms, celery, bagged salad 1p-15p

I spent just over £4 and grabbed a couple of 1p clip strip andrex too. At the moment i am limited to going in once a week in the evening as hubby is working away again but this should keep us stocked up til next week-we will just need some milk (69p for a large one from local asian supermarket) and some apples (again from asian supermarket as 4 large gala weighed is only aorund 60p so cheaper than value ones.)

Hope everyone is managing to grab some bragains.xx

Sounds fab I never get bargains that cheap but going to try tesco one night what time was it?

i do chicken pastys from leftover roast chicken be ideal with pastry.

Can I ask all bargain tesco hunters which one do you get bargains in?

    express? metro? superstore or extra?
i dont have huge tesco within walkable distance or on decent bus route(evenings)if hubby drives and its late its no good as kids in bed.

the metro is hours walk and express garage one hours walk and nearby village one about 40mins?

is it worth the trip? been metro evening before and hubby said there was nothing.
been in express in city centre late evening and dident notice any superbargains.

morrisions can get to but dont find they knock off much.

thinking doing special reduced run once a fornight which involves co-op, mr mr and tesco as problem for me is getting there at right time and wonder if reduction policy is same throughout uk as my localk sainsburys is useless for reductions even at night!

    been co-op today and brought

small loaf of bread 69p not great reduction but love warbertons seeded.
    55p scotch pancakes
45p crumpets-both make ideal brekkie on run or healthy snack but refuse to buy them full price and always buy reduced.

They had lots sausages but not much off still £1.79 pack, fish pie readymeals 99p and gammon joints dident look at price as only had fiver on me. nothing in produce section apart from better days carrots 25p.
minimal reductions in chilled and nothing we needed sadly no sliced meats.

debating on trying spar later as have £1.50 left,

    will do co-op sunday.

due to do shop on tuesday weekly shop wondering if should do reduced hunt monday night and see if can get enough reductions to last week we need to be much better as really need to cut back this month.

is reductions better on weekday nights?
    wonder which days best?

    hi there

    I love my yellow stickers:j

Monday night had to collect eldest son in town so called at Mr Ts, most items were picked over. Did get fresh fennel 9p, expensive tub of Carbonara sauce 28p and nann bread 15p:)

Had very little money on me and had seen Christmas Crackers reduced from £15 down to £3.75, went back in today and bought 2 packs. These will be for pressies next year if we are all alive and well. Bargain.

Got some good mince ( I only buy lean too) and diced beef, reduced about £1 each packet still a saving. Also got some of the meatballs in tomato sauce reduced from £4.18 down to £1.34. All now in freezer and will meal plan around these next week.

I agree that there are certain products that I would never have bought if they had not been yellowed:) so its good to try something new and if you like it more the better.

I rarely buy meat that is not reduced. I am that woman who follows the man with the yellow stickers around the store:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I watch the pennies and the pounds look after themselves. I have no debt or mortgage, just 3 in higher education:eek::eek: I love breaks away a few times a year and am able to do this because I don't waste money.

I envy people sometimes who have trolley full of expensive items but then think about it and wonder, can these people afford all that lovely food?

PS I get a real kick out of writing it in my spending diary when I come home too. I lay it all out of the table and get the family to admire my stickers:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: sad woman I am.

    Take care all

I agree Victory...showed my hubby at lunchtime and he thought it obscene that anyone would pay that for crackers....crazy isn't it.

You got a good few bargains today :):)

I would make a sandwich and have that with the soup for dinner or what about diced potatoes roasted in the oven and set a few into the centre of the bowl.

    I am hungry :):)

Away to feed the starving :):)

mince onions carrots and gravy from freezer
left over turnip, carrots and parsnips from yesterday
boil and mash some spuds to go with them

    Feeding 5 tonight

Well done victory on your bargains!

only thing comes to mind is maybe

having it by itself with roll and having a soup and pudding tea ideal if you had big lunch.

    Is it tinned or fresh?

I dont see why you couldent mkaybe combine it with little stock, some choped veg maybe some meat and make it a tasty base for big stew or casserole?

then once cooked can be frozen in tubs and served with bread and butter and mash.

i did pop in spar got loaf bread 14p white farmhouse was £1
dident get more as only had £1.50 and freezers full of bread, light on meat and can get cheap bread every week.

But star buy of day was

gammon joint was £4.49 reduced to £1.13 dated 12th.
    its in oven now.
having gammon, egg and chips tonight plus leftovers for sandwiches.

so spent £3 on reductions today sorted breckfast , dinner and packed lunches . there was 2 but sadly had to leave 2nd one.,
tempted to rin hubby see if he go in later but expect it be gone.

gailey thank you so much for posting, you really have been brilliant and now when I look at things reduced I am not so bad about giving them a miss because I can't think of how to use it or what goes with what thanks to you:D

Yes they are both 600g fresh in plastic pots, I am going to turn one into a stew type meal with some fresh veg on the side thanks:D

I gave some chicken away today, felt good about it because I had 2 in my hand and the lady gave out a sigh of 'oh shame I never got it' so I offered it to her and she kept saying 'but no you had it frist you take it' the more she said no the more I offered it again, this went on for a while until I thought right I will have it back then, she took it in the end:rotfl:

DS loved his WW thin crust 69p pizza this evening, said we should get some more funny that loads more in the freezer:rotfl:

Also 2 pork leg joints one was £6.50ish one was £7.50 ish, guy had missed them when reducing so pointed out and he made them 12p each !!

Not been so much of late though last week got 19 packs of bacon for 10p each

today only got a nice co-op fresh brown loaf was 1.31 down to 15p

they had a big delivery today so shelves are full so will prob be sun or so before see much meat reduced put will pop in if need bread again.

Good luck to all you bargain hunters, I got enough to do this month anyway, but always top up when i can so i hopefully dont need to buy much meat /veg / bread full price. :)

Another brilliant score for me and my fella tonight. Popped into Morries, got 2 tins of soup, some icing sugar, a baguette, some white wine pasta sauce, two packs of doughnuts for £1.20.

Then nipped into tesco on the way home for a quick look and got a massive haul of shopping for £5, literally three packed bags, including there chinese pre-prepared meals usually £3.50 for 35p each. didnt pay more than 50p for anything.

Freezer now packed solid, so am gonna have to start cooking up some stews and things to make way!
