  • wow sorry i have come to gloat! Managed to get £42 worth of food tonight for just £5.84 with just whoopsies alone in mr t's. Loads of organic milk for 5p, veg, fruit and bread/cakes and fish. Really pleased although i am meant to be using up the food we already have who can resit 5p bargains. Filled 5 carrier bags!
Although i noticed at least 3 other people with trolleys going around the same route as me so more people to compete with these days lol

I just wish I had a bigger freezer

Me too. I only have a four shelf freezer, yet it still seems to take me ages to live off off it.

I'm also doing the challenge to use up what I've got before I buy more, but this time of year sees so many good offers. I couldn't resist the half price linguine pasta in Sainsburys. It's my favourite and it's half price. I bought 18 packets! Then there's the half price tuna. Good till 2014!

But as far as meat goes, I'm trying to use up what I've got in the freezer before buying more.

There are several things I have never seen with yellow stickers on at work:
    . Onions/Shallots
    . Bacon
. Cheeses like Dairylea, Laughing Cow, Mini Babybels, Cheesestrings, Philly

Cheesestrings are half price in Sainsburys at the moment, and Philly is often on a half price or BOGOF. I only make cheesecake when it is, otherwise it's too expensive! And I only buy cheese strings when they're on offer, because the kids like me to make stuffed crust pizza with them. The trick is trying to stop my teenagers from scarfing them down their throat!!!
  • medsdemon: I bet we have the same naughty night time treat they where selling lots of chocolate X mass decs in mr S along with areo trees and quality stret sweets all 10p i have stocked up for Hubbys lunch boxs now just got to make sure they are not all eaten first.

I saw some bargains in Mr S today on the meat shame my freezer is so small :S

I miss my naughty night time bargain treats. My local sainsburys used to sell bags of doughnuts for 20p. Co-op did the same, and I would stock up after christmas.

But after losing 4 stone, I just can't eat that way anymore, or it would all pile back on.

I did enjoy it at the time though.

gailey thank you so much for posting, you really have been brilliant and now when I look at things reduced I am not so bad about giving them a miss because I can't think of how to use it or what goes with what thanks to you:D

Yes they are both 600g fresh in plastic pots, I am going to turn one into a stew type meal with some fresh veg on the side thanks:D

I gave some chicken away today, felt good about it because I had 2 in my hand and the lady gave out a sigh of 'oh shame I never got it' so I offered it to her and she kept saying 'but no you had it frist you take it' the more she said no the more I offered it again, this went on for a while until I thought right I will have it back then, she took it in the end:rotfl:

DS loved his WW thin crust 69p pizza this evening, said we should get some more funny that loads more in the freezer:rotfl:

No probs learnt to be creative as some of the best bargains can be most obscure. today looked at reduced cream and jersey milk but wasent sure what could do with it so left them.

I know from os can make your own butter.

I love sharing bargains with others.

Lindsy kim-sounds amazing my tesco never that good.
may mate who lives near extra says reductions in big one rubbish!
But shes not the best bargain hunter.

Going to try tesco express and metro monday night.

I got all from my local coop at 5.30pm at 75% reductions 4 tiger breadcakes 27p Rubarb pies 32p x2. they had bloomer loaves at 23p but I let them no room in the freezer I've had so many yellow labels over the xmas period. But I never pay full price for bread from coop. 800g wholemeal loaves are 37p and 18p for 400g
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)

gailey I added more veg and some leftover baked potatoes to the christmas broth and will now make a heartier meal this evening, one question though lots of people say on here they freeze bread which I do normal loaves etc but with the french stick and the paninis or the ciabbata when it comes out and is defrosted, heated up it never has that soft taste it seems hard and solid sometimes and the kids and OH now dread it when I say I have some bread in the freezer:rotfl::rotfl:

Normal loaves fine but it seems to be the small rolls that don't have that soft taste.

gailey another thing I was thinking last night, I see in your posts you price up the meal costing, how can I do that? I now have 2 freezers full of whoopsies and obviously some have the label on for the cost so what do I do now, do I take it per item and then divide it between the three of us? Sometimes the eldest eats here also, mostly lives at his gf house so I usually do a meal for 3, lunches are at school, work, cereal ah cereal the cheerios and shreddies have come down to half price now at Sains was so happy I practically grabbed them off the shelves, bought loads of them stocking up on them.

All the brevita at Tesco is half price so bought loads of those and the big jar of carte noire is £4 at Mr T also so got loads of those, I have organized a cupboard that stores it all in, so thanks to Asda 50p soups, pot noodles and tin toms and all the other half price cereals and breakfast biscuits and the yellow stickers I have more than enough but will still go and see whatelse there is out there, I love the thought that it cost me less:D

Maybe next month I should get out a notebook and pen and start from the first day of the month writing down everything I spend on food but then I will have by then loads more for the future stocked away so does that count?

I would love to know how much I spend exactly, obviously this month thanks to the savings it is is considerably less than it used to be but where to stop now and start costing?

Victory-do you like pasta? I use 2 cartons of passata, herbs and garlic with a tub of mascapone for pasta sauce-this does us (family of 4) 3 meals, so i use it the day i make it then freeze 2 portions, never had aproblem with it. I am not sure about freezing if in the tub though....shall have to google that one.

Oh i also use them in macaroons-it's great with lemon curd to put in the middle and this would be lovely on cupcakes or in the middle of a victoria sponge too.hth.xx
