turquoise_goat wrote: »Hi everyone,
I'm new to MSE and to this forum. I've been lurking for a while and have been amazed by some of the reductions you get! Previously I have been unable to find these but today in tesco express I managed to get a few things:
chicken jalfrezi ready meal- reduced to 35p from £3 (bought 2!)
individual size cheese and onion quiche- reduced to 39p
6 small lemon and raisin pancakes- reduced to 19p
It is a fairly small hoard compared to others' but I am very pleased with it :j
I'm going to try and get to a co- op some time this weekend to see if I can have any success there too!
Welcome to MSE-well done on your bargians, great start. I adore the raisin and lemon pancakes from Mr T-has some this morning anf have some for tomorrow too....yellow sticker of course (there is no way i will pay £80p+ for them.)
I did ok on NYE at the coop-chicken breast for 75p, huge steak pie for 50p and fish cakes for 45p, bit more expensive than Mr T but great none the less.
Keep going....it becomes addictive!!:p0 -
Called in at Tesco to do my weekly shop on the way home from work and the store was practically empty and the reduced shelf full! Got loads of goodies for the freezer, bread and veg for next to nothing! I love these days :-)0

mondello - so glad you got some bargains!
I went into Morrisons this evening (needed to go for a few bits anyway) and the reduced shelf was absolutely empty : ( There were a few sticker hunters around grumbling lol. Got some more bread though for the freezer so that was good. Really wanted some cheap eggs for baking and couldn't bring myself to pay full price0 -
I always buy reductions. They are my first port of call when shopping. Then I go for deals next - if it ain't on offer then we don't get it as a rule! Saves me serious money though.3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Hope the therapy of getting a bargain helped you skintmum
Only thing to be had in my co-op was one of their own small wholemeal tin loaves for 80p reduced to 15p, same crust type as the big one i got yesterday, when got to checkout wouldnt scan as yesterdays date, so told to just take it if i wanted, the reduction guys there are good lol so that went well with the spicy parsnip/carrot/swede soup tonight, all veg for 10p from 2-3weeks ago that are still keeping well in fridge, will use rest at weekend with roast leg of pork from before xmas thats in freezer that was 12p !!!
Glad I stocked up when there was probably too much ordered when they re-fitted the store, dont know if its going to be so good, but will keep checking as its less than 5 min away and good to get a walk and usually need some other things anyway.0 -
skintmum - reduce to clear cheers me up no end too!
(Kids are such a worry hope it turns out ok - it usually does)

Sometimes a being little bit strict with myself and having patiannce pays off
yesterday popped in spar after school. But no amazing reductions only thing fancied was bananas £1 down to 50p.
so left it took eldest to gym.
popped in cornershop opposite im regular in there they lovley always trying to flog me out of date stuff , they booker premier but independant I do try and suppport local where I can.
We were out of crisps and got 6pack monster munch and 6pack quavers just slightly out of date sor 50p so £1 for 12 about 6-7p a pack.
4cans out date diet coke £1.
Today went spar on way back from morning school run as we run out butter and utterly butterly £1 a tub.. unusually they dident have any reduced bread but dident need any.
my 2bargain finds were foxes triple pack biscuits £1 down to 5p same price as value and more and we nearly out of biscuits weirdly dated july2012 but discontinued lines get marked down in clearance.
Those bargain banaans were £1 then 50 now 13p a pack so got 2packs!
My moto this year is ensure the reductions a good one as sometimes the exitement of yellow label takes over.
Also try noty get sucked into buying other stuff just buy reduced and move onto different shop.
Thourght occured to me with tesco backlash even I hate place maybe more bargains if less shoppers.
So when hubby gets takeaway today sending him up tesco express garage shop for a nosey.
im up co-op later this afternoon for few essentials will look in reduced as sometimes good reductions in the day even if they have a lot.
will go over lidls tommorow and get weekend deals. pop in sainsburys opposite but never find bargains there.
sunday-will hit co-op.
then monday evening plan to hit morrisions , coop and tesco metro.
then tuesday can decide what we need and probably just do farmfoods or lilds.
need to go butcher today hes there every friday.
need ti check aldis supersix next week as hubby works next door to aldis.
its quite addictive this bargain hunting going to apply myself and hope we get lucky.
Victory- we buy sainsburys, co-op or tesco gold all tastes the same.
their own brand normal horrid has to be gold.
Lidls do grand arom which is nice but £2 a jar for 100g.
we get douwe when on offer-morrsions seems best coffee deals
gold blend if on offer. or nescafe speciality brands
Sounds like you doing great like i say track yoir savings each month then you wont feel so bad about buying in bulk.pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:

Hi Everyone,
wonderful to hear everyone is making good on the yellow stickers. Went to Tes last night and got some really good bargains and as it was empty, my OH was talking to the sticker man who further reduced most stuff we had and said they throw it all out at midnight! Anyone else find this sad? filled, mine, mums and mum-in-laws FFreezers last night for less than a tenner!
