I have to agree with Florenceem I'm finding the easy finds way too fattening at the moment. The fresh fruit and veg have been sparce but pastries, pies, doughnuts, white bread and cream cakes are always there. Came away with very little last night because i was turning my nose up at calorific foods. Question for anyone - are the supermarket cooked chickens more fattening than me doing one in the slow cooker? (Trying to lose a couple of stone)

Not sure on the chicken - in theory the fat should drain off as they are on the rotisserie, however they maybe be basted with extra fat. Sorry.

Funny you shoudl say that - last night there was plenty of junk - ready meals, gloopy sweet yoghurt corner things, southern fried chicken pieces - people where grabbing them but the packs of organic trimmed bacon and cheese (yes its fatty but at least its a natural relatively unprocess food) were left....quite sad really that people could have got some good real food but passed it over for processed rubbish :(
People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

  • The cooked chickens are fairly good fat wise as they're cooked on a rotisserie aand most of the fat drains off. If you want to be healthier about it, remove the skin before eating as that's were most of the fat is.
sainsbugs last night was useless on the fruit and veg but I got 2 x organic chicken thighs and drumsticks £3.50 down to £1.40, 1 x Chicken wings £2.19 down to 80p and 2 x pork mince £2.50 down to 80p. :T
I find its mainly fruit and veg that I pick up on markdowns and occasionaly meat - I seldom see the 'junk' reductions - although it might be that I just tune them out.
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D

Was very lucky to bei in morries around lunchtime and get a lot for £20.44p

    Whole chicken £1.99 from £5.49
Pack of bacon 75p instead of £2.49
Sausages the best beef 99p instead of £2.99
    Paella (again!) £1.99 from £5
Cornish pasties 49p instead of £1.49
Cooked chicken and turkey slices 19p from £1.19
Spanish tapas, 99p instead of £2.49 ( to be honest would not feed a baby:rotfl: to charge that for a couple of bites, I know they are supposed to be light bites before the meal but you would have to buy 6/8 of them to make it inot a dinner:rotfl:)

Chicken and sweetcorn pasta 29p from £1.49
    9 garlic slices 49p from £1.45
Spicy fajita kit meal £1.15 instead of £3.49

Cooked carvery ham £1.99 instead of £5.99

    Pack of 4 yogs 49p from £1.49

To be honest as you are talking about fatty junk foods I left a lot of it there because of the high calorie and fat content, there was a beef stroganoff ready meal the fat was 24.6:eek: then there was a mushroom rissoto with 26.8g of fat:eek:

Oh I GOT a slab of cheese extra mature 87p from £2.49 also.

There were as there always are a load of the choc lmousse type yogs very high in fats and sugars, loads of black pudding also always there.

I left the pork medallions this time because when you open the packet you get such a small amount, last time I ended up cutting it up to look more on the plate and it was quite tough so left thato ne.

So long as you go for the meat it is worth the wait.

Oh and a bacon and leek quiche 45p from £1.99.
Xlarge sausage roll with pickle 39p instead of £1.29

This man came over no please, sorry, could I just get, lent right over the lot of us, got what he wanted off the second shelf, shoved it into his basket and off he went:rotfl::rotfl:

Some of the ready meals are so super high in fat content would not touch them if the man from morries gave them to me as I was leaving the shop:rotfl:

Managed to get 2 loaves of 50/50kingsmill bread for 20p each yesterday morning using the 30p off coupons. Never got bread this cheap in the morning. Also went away last weekend and visited new asda and found lots of 5p things like some of you regularly find. Never found anything this price at tesco. Might have to relocate near an asda! Did manage to pick up 18 grape hyacincths from £3 to 25p at local tesco pm. yesterday and organic milk 2 pints 29p. Trouble is now no room in freezer and can't think of anything I need to take out. Wish I could resist a bargain - think I have a little problem!
  • Hey all.

Went to Tesco again last night with some more SSM vouchers, and also got some microwave baby potatoes and 2 mushroom burgers for 10p each, shelves were pretty much cleared though.
 Mummy to an amazing little girl
  • Did quite well with my whoopsies at Mr A yesterday - salmon, cod loin, haddock, sausages, yoghurts, and milk. Also in the veg section some nice apples, baby cabbages, pears, carrots and potatoes. Almost a weeks food for the family for less than £20 (after a couple of vouchers) so well pleased with my lot - not as good as some of you lucky peeps on here though lol
