  • Thats what I thought got to be worth it I have nowhere to put it lol would have to work somethiong out what's an undercounter freezer? I am on the hunt for cheese and I can't find it anywhere and I refuse to pay full price now lol.

Im sure it is well worth it and will no doubt invest in one over coming weeks/month myself.

What I mean is a standard size freezer that sits under your kitchen worktop.

Other thoughts for where to put one would be ontop of your existing fridge freezer if space allows and is recessed so no chance of being knocked over ? Thats why I left space for another appliance as my microwave is on my freezer atm as not got huge amounts of worktop space for when I do a batch cooking evening/weekend need plenty preparation space for chopping/cooking/portioning etc.

I try to buy cheese on offer at about £1 for 200g, dont buy it often, just as a treat for pizza or macaroni cheese, though when have some i love cheese on toast with a little chilli :)

At £5 a kilo though !! is too expensive, is a lot considering all my meat in freezer is like between 6p and 70p a kilo LOL

Did get some stilton and goats cheese's for 10p at co-op recently, am hoping there are a few bits tonight when i get there.

Let us all know how your shop goes today and hope you can find a cheap wee freezer on gumtree etc or even a free one if you can.

    :)
  • I shall keep looking I don't think we are going to be getting one for a few months yet we have got a red cross in town that does second hand stuff so we are going to have a look it there. I hope you manage to find one :) I am looking everywhere for some reduced cheese as you say it seems so deer when you look at cost of meat but I really want to make a pizza :)
    February GC £261.97/24 NSDS 10/12
    march 300/290 NSD 12/6
    ARPIL 300/ 238.23 NSD'S 10/3

  • I made a big homemade pizza on Friday, had to resort to buying a small block from poundland which done the job, was the most expensive thing on the pizza lol

Hope can stock up tonight, as although I dont use lots, usually just on pizza or macaroni cheese so for me myself + friends/family over I prob only need upto half a kilo a month, obviously different if you have family to feed and is good source of calcium etc for kids so I can easily imagine a family of 4 needing 3 kilo's a month, so is expensive if having to pay £5 or more a kilo.

Hope you pick some up and perhaps find a free freezer on freecyle etc or cheap one on gumtree or from red cross shop, will be worth it in long term im sure, so when you see 10 blocks of cheese you know you have room to grate and freeze it for the times you really want(read - NEED) Pizza, lol we all love that now and again :)

I am happy to report I did really well at Morries today, have not been for a few days, no room in the freezer:D

I got the little lunch box sizes tropicana £1.11 to 19p
Loads of different curries £2.99 to £1.15
Different chickens, chilli chicken, corn fed chicken, chicken in mushroom sauce and chicken with asparagus and posh ham (would you believe they try to sell two little chicken breasts ,wrapped around with one piece of asparagus with a slice of lemon on top originally £5.99:eek:, the box is huge but when you take out the contents there is nothing there, serves 2 crumbs two very small people:rotfl::rotfl:) anyway got all the above for around the £1.15/£1.25 mark.

They had yet again loads of cheeses, morzorella cheeses, creme frais, a few yogs, more cheeses.

Oh those eat smart low in fat and sugars ready meals usually £2.29 now 99p so got 5.

The marker downer SA hates me, she tuts and huffs and turns her back and moans and sighs, I just stand there quietly, the other man, must own a restaurant, just came over, burst in amongst everyone and took in one fell swoop the whole lot of chicken drumsticks, off he went:eek:

fROM Morries chinese section chinese lemon £1.15 was £2.99 and some more corn fed chicken strips was £4 and then 99p.

Oh and some wafer thin ham £1.15 to 19p that was the best buy of the day:D

oh and a chicken fajita kit which is todays dinner, again massive packaging and when you get into it it is some peppers and onions with fajita chicken and some wraps with two little dip sauces never worth £6 but ok for £1.99 for a family of 3/4 good haul today.

Sorry gailey seem to have got all your meat today:rotfl::rotfl:

Oh and I asked about the cheese reductions in Morries and she said yes they do often as the cheese is on rotation and it is always placed in the fruit and veg aisle along with the flowers, there is like a little stand at one end with reductions on but must say I have never seen cheese on there, yes to the fruit and veg never at silly prices like 1p but there are reductions, sometimes you just buy it though because you feel the need to have a bargain notbecause you need it:rotfl:

Its ok victory you dont live near me.
baffled as never seen such good reductions in mine.
do they reduce early? wondering if should hit morries 1st.

re cheese-tbh its rare to see reduced cheese unless its co-op and then its small block.

so where cheese is concerned I buy on offer.

farmfoods does big block for £2
find iceland cheese expensive yes they did do small block for £1
sainsburys nearly alwayys have 400g cheese either half price or 2 for £4.

co-op has cheese on offer 400g at £2.09
hubby got cheese other day 400g 3.99 bogoff cant remember where could have been tesco.

lilds this weekend have 400g mature cheese on offer for £1.99.

I would say we get through approx 3 400g blocks a month easy.
lilds is best value for speaciality cheese ie brie, stilton and mozzarella.

I only like philadelphia so try and buy when its £ 1 every few months,
last 2tubs were reduced to 80 in spar.

did get few reduced xmas trunkle cheeses.

    well done everyone on bargains.

cold here today hoping my trip tonight worth it.
brought day rider bus ticket in anticipation of bargains.

Went into co-op a little earlier about 6, all was already reduced though all the meat had gone, so maybe missed this, however got the following.

Chicken salad sandwich - 39p - Handy as rushing out now straight after bargain hunt and will get late supper when get back.

3 x cheesy bean slices 29p each - good for quick emergency snack or lazy lunch etc

2 large blocks of 'simply value' full flavour matur-ish (3)cheddar 49p each were £4.42/£4.97 and weight 612- 688grams :) - Meant to be £7.22/Kilo:eek: so thats me sorted for cheese till end feb or so hopefully :)

Had lifted 3 blocks but seen a fellow bargain hunter so asked if she wanted it, pity it wasnt you skintmum :)

Activia creamy peach pots - 29p for the 4 pack

So last night was chopping garlic, when I get back tonight looks like will be grating cheese !!

    All the best ;)

Oh nearly forgot as it wasnt on my receipt, guy hadnt scanned cream - was 20p so i gave him it back and i thought he had scanned it and then he gave it back to me, so put in bag, just noticed it's yesterdays date and the they know ill give it a go, will need to have some on reduced hot cross buns with some jam when get back if its ok :)
  • Lot's more good Bargains today :D Seems everyone else is getting the cheese :) I am just going to have to keep looking well done everyone.

Hope you get some soon skintmum :)

Nipped into Morrisons as was passing by there whilst away out, had voucher for free t bags from paper today anyway.

Picked up some fresh curry leaves, rosmary and dill - 19p each
3 packs of deli cooked meat off cuts about 250 - 350 grams each - 29p each

Was plenty rolls and bread etc 9-19p but wasnt fussed as have enough atm and co-op always has some if needed.

So thats another little bargain that will do sandwiches etc and some nice herbs, now onto the cheese grating and will look out what can batch cook and re-freeze later in week making use of the nice herbage :)

Worked out got about 3o0 grams of nice roast beef in one pack of the deli meat, 200g of nice cured bacon ? 200g chopped ham and pork :( was hiding under some nice chicken and slice of ham, still do for tmrw lunch and may freeze some in portions :) so all good esp roast beef and cured bacony/pork type meat, had scraps on some bread as supper :)

  • Well inspired by you all I decided to nip to my local mr t which is 24 hours but not a big shop. Looked all round the meat section and no reduced meat. In fact there wasn't even space where the reduced meat normally is - not sure if they've stopped doing it. Did notice though that the other reduced items are no longer on shelves in their areas but are now in cages at or near the end of the aisles. Not a completely wasted trip in the end as went to stock up on johnsons baby bath, shampoo and conditioner which are all on 2 for 1.
