I am now being told "windows cannot connect to the internet using HTTP, HTTPS or FTP. This is probably caused by firewall settings. Check the firewall settings for the HTTP port (80) HTTPS port (443) and FTP port (21)"

I have checked and double checked these on my firewall settings and they are ticked as allowable exceptions, but I'm still getting the same message.

How I wish it wasn't so! I could have really done without these complictions and I do appreciate that you're trying to help me. How do I download that though when I can't access the internet on my PC? I'm posting from my ipad using wifi. I should be able to use my son's laptop later and use a USB stick. Until then I'm stuffed!!

TakeThis, my computer only says Scaleo L on the side. Can I find out more info on it re model? I have no paperwork etc. Sorry, bit slow on the uptake there. Bear with me, this is all gobbledegook to me & my brain is frazzled.

Take a rest. Come back when you have access via your son's laptop, as you'll have a few things to download and save to disc and USB.

A clean install will save all of the faffing around and also serve for a speedier surfing experience.

Model number perhaps on a nameplate at the back.

Sorry you'll have to be more specific.

I think he means delete that post as some of the details may be sensitive? (Probably better to just edit it to remove the content). :)

    Hi takethis,
That's still looking very complicated for a novice especially as I have to do it all via my son's laptop - web pages opening slowly to varying degrees still.
