E: 29/02 Esso- 'free' cinema ticket with 3 x £30 petrol purchases

I also have sent off for my receipts (x6) to get 2 cinema tickets. Four weeks later did not hear anything so contacted over phone. The customer service women made excuses up about emails going into my spam folder (im an IT guru so fairly IT literate) and read the codes out to me over phone. Then went to the esso website and input both codes. Thought I was on a winner................... week later only 1 ticket turned up! So rang again... customer service women made up some excuses about the cinema posting tickets separately and it would be with me within a week, I very much doubt it. Probably spent about 40mins over 0844 call time (rang twice) + cost of call + 2 first class stamps and envelopes.
Sent an email complaining ..... no response..
To summarise: Are they really worth the effort??????
Already sent off another 6 last week (another 2 tickets) .. not good news. I also get the impression that there is only a few customer service reps allocated to the line.0 -
Has anyone actually received their tickets? I sent of for 2 lots of tickets and received a letter yesterday saying i had sent duplicates and therefore they were not paying out! I think someone on the tills are on the fiddle?:mad:0

I am truly shocked at this offer - its a massive con to have generated thousands if nto millions from petrol sales for a minimum expenditure at the end.
I sent off 6 sets of vouchers and receipts. Each set has BOTH the till and customer receipts and guess what apparently 5 of mine were lost in the post or never received by the Esso company and the last one was received but sent back to me with a letter saying the following:
We have enclosed your original application as you failed to provide the necessary 3 vouchers or 2/3 til receipts.
Funny thing is there are 6 receipts and 3 vouchers (each set of receipts contains stapled together the til and customer copy so no confussion can be made).
Are the end of the letter they say that a resubmission needs to be received and processed by the 31st of March 2012, thats never gonna happen if apparently my other 5 went missing in the post.
This was a massive con and I am shocked that they can get away with such things.
I emailed them 11 times, called 5 times and emailed PICTURE evidence of ALL the set sents showing the date sent, the vouchers, the receipts and the back completed as necessary but apparently if they dont receive them there is nothing they can do.
Well I hope that all of you like me who have had this con carried out against you have now made the decision to
NEVER USE AN ESSO STATION AGAIN NO MATTER WHAT........
I know I will never spend another penny in ESSO again not for the time being but for good as they as a business disgust me following this b*llsh*t con and their numerous excuses to avoid providing the apparent tickets people could get.
Strange how all of my other post was getting to and from recipients at the time all of the ones to them went missing.

Well I sent off my vouchers and receipts a few weeks ago saying I wanted to get my code by post, then yesterday I got an email with the code in.
Just thought I'd mention that so anyone else expecting one by post can keep an eye on their emails incase that happens to them too0 -

I'm also highly disappointed with Esso, although not shocked because I have heard many times before of promotions by various companies going badly wrong and alienating their customer base. I wouldn't call it a con, but just a badly thought-up and badly administered promotion.
I've just had a letter rejecting my application because one of my three receipts was not itemised. That was the receipt I got the first time I bought petrol for £30.01 from an Esso garage and asked for a voucher, they gave me the voucher but didn't give me an itemised receipt. The other two receipts were itemised. So although I technically didn't meet the conditions, I still feel cheated because Esso should have clearly told all its station staff to ensure they always give out itemised receipts while the promotion was going on.
Like you, I'm not going to use an Esso petrol station again. Unless I don't have enough fuel in the tank to get me to a non-Esso one.0 -
Well its nearly a month now. I sent 12 vouchers and receipts off by recoreded delivery (so they had to sign for it) and I have not head anything. Is there a number you can call at all?

I have received all of my codes via email today. I sent them off on the 2nd of march and we had saved enough for 11 tickets. We are taxi drivers so get through a lot of fuel. After reading other peoples stories on here I was getting worried as I did not send them recorded delivery. I was planning to chase it up but kept forgetting and then they just came today:happylove

I drive a lot & NEVER put petrol in unless I am getting points - Tesco, Morrison's etc. But the Esso film tickets is very generous - giving you back virtually 10%! I am never going to like paying the current mad prices for fuel but this deal certainly made it much less painful. Yes getting your codes is a little bit slow but when I rang Customer Services after 3 weeks I was immediately No. 1 in the queue and the lady was just so helpful. Well done Esso - and please run this brilliant promotion again soon!0
