I have received all of my codes via email today. I sent them off on the 2nd of march and we had saved enough for 11 tickets. We are taxi drivers so get through a lot of fuel. After reading other peoples stories on here I was getting worried as I did not send them recorded delivery. I was planning to chase it up but kept forgetting and then they just came today =)

After posting this last week i have now received a letter through the post to say that I sent copies instead of originals?? Therefore I wont be getting my 11 codes but the letter had a code on for ONE ticket 'as a gesture of goodwill'. ?????

I have already redeemed 6 of the codes for our local cinema and then got fed up and left the other 5 to do another day. Plus one on the letter makes 6 :T

Seems like the left arm doesn't know what the right arm is doing ;)

Also- When I redeemed the codes online I chose some for odeon and some for vue as we have both nearby. The Vue vouchers have arrived and can be used in ANY vue, not just our local one. Hopefully the Odeon ones will be the same. xx

  • I sent mine recorded on 12th March and am still awaiting codes. Hopefully will get them in the next week. Luckily I saw on here that people were being told they had sent duplicate receipts and made sure I sent the originals. I took scans of all the receipts before I sent them so fingers crossed they do not come back and say I sent duplicates, I will go mad.

Was pleasantly surprised to receive 3 vouchers this week. After reading of the problems on here had written off ever seeing them.
  • I submitted my cinema ticket request 8 weeks ago and have rung their help line for the past 4 weeks only to be told that they would be processed mine next week. This week I got the same old tale 'just wait another week and they'll be with you"

Each call has cost me approx 50p, along with the hassle of collecting and posting off for the cinema tickets I now conclude this offer to have been a complete waste of my time and money.

Their help desk then say they are only acting on behalf of esso and can only email off a request, which incidentally after 4 attempts has never been replied to.

I personally think Esso are a disgraceful example of customer care and consider their offer a complete waste of time and would recommend to all not to be conned into any of their offers.

I will be loging a complaint with esso from their web site and also with the Uks customer complaints web site.

To anyone please don't waste your time with any furture esso 'so called' offers.

I'll be voting with my feet in future and not buying from a esso petrol station again.

Esso 'Free' Cinema Ticket vouchers!! Sent vouchers etc back to Esso - my wife posted letter using her office franking system (paid for) unfortunately both myself and my wife omitted to include our address -Doh! E-mailed Esso 'helpline' x5 times explaining that we had experienced a 'senior' moment and not included our name and address and described the franked post details - no reply! Finally found a contact telephone number for 'customer service' - I was informed that they were getting 70,000 items of mail per day and could not and would not be able to trace our envelope - tough - there was nothing they could / would do! Obviously this was our silly error but a normal Cinema ticket for our local cinema is £6.50 - wow what a massive loss to Esso if they sent us a voucher to show good faith! Guess what - we will not visit Esso again and our local Esso service station is now circa £140 per month worse off! Tesco points are better anyway!

It's a shame for lots of people having read all these disaster stories.
I was lucky, I sent mine off, got the email, did the code and got the ticket, zero hassle.
Don't entirely lose faith if you haven't got yours yet.

Obsessing about remortgaging and interest rates all day, every day:)

  • Activated my codes ages ago rang up the other day as tickets no where to be seen, got a real nice lady say they were sent but lost in the post, She then said she would re issue them and that i should have them by friday. :/

Hello, just joined MSE so i could report my troubles with Esso Cinema Promotion. Two tickets never arrived got a very bolshy response when i politely asked if they would be re sent as surely it's promotion runners responsibility to ensure delivery. Apparently not. A huge big deal was made about them "replacing" the lost tickets where i kind of ended up feeling like it was my fault - which was very strange. There was actually another pair that unfortunately met their demise at the hands of my 3 year old niece. My goodness the fuss the promotional company acting behalf of Esso made about these was very embarrassing. Suffice to say they have made it very clear they will not, under any circumstances, be replacing these two tickets. Real shame as dread to think how much money i've spent in Esso garages over the years. Will prob avoid now out of principle. FYI you might find calling the actual Esso customer service line more helpful than promo company. I will try this afternoon & post if a better outcome transpires. Number i was given by TRG 0207 136 1798. Good luck.
