The whole thing is a joke - don't these corporations ever learn?? I waited weeks for my code only to get a letter saying I had sent duplicate receipts, but they were stapled to the vouchers by the garage. They should be writing to the garages. I was then told even though I had sent the wrong receipts as a gesture of goodwill they would give me the 'unique code'. Bl***y cheek. Anyhow they forgot to send the code. 30 minutes on hold and I finally got through to someone who tried to simply deny responsibility saying they weren't actually Esso! So 3 weeks in and I have nothing apart from a rude letter from them. We should all complain as these companies take our money and don't deliver. It is tantamount to a scam and Esso won't be getting anymore business from me.0

I sent my receipts off and have received them back today to say that they are not the originals and the originals have already been submitted ! Not sure whats going on, am trying to call them but have been on hold so long its no funny, I am going to go to Police if I have no joy as I am worried somebody is submitting copy receipts, maybe from the petrol station I used??
Ive wondered for a while now if something was going on with the petrol stations. the assistants never offer a voucher to you, and after being amused for a while, eventually i got ticked off at having to ask. i am under no allusion that they are scamming. oh well, back to the supermarket i guess! :spam:0 -
I've emailed them about the whereabouts of my code as I sent my vouchers and receipts about 3-4 weeks ago and haven't had a reply. Tried ringing and just got put on hold and I eventually hung up as it was taking so long. :mad:0

Dont worry guys the codes are starting to roll now i have recived 8 via email over the last two days:)

I think now the promotion has ended they can start catching up on the mass back log they have
when i rung last week i was told they were receiving 5000 applications a day, thats a lot of envelopes to open
i put it to the back of my mind and was a nice surprise when i opened my emails especially two days running receiving codes0 -

Just got two letters from Esso with the same blurb about copy receipts but giving me a code 'as a goodwill gesture'.
However, the letters arrived 30min after a further three tickets' worth of vouchers was posted, with at least one duplicate receipt.
As the receipts were stapled onto the voucher by the Esso employee, I will be very annoyed if they subsequently reject it, and suggest that anyone who gets a rejection uses this line of argument. Remember any ambiguity in T&Cs are generally interpreted in law in favour of the individual, so I would think that Esso is relying on the relative low worth of the tickets (£7.40 where I live) to dissuade people from taking it any further.
If you still get a rejection and are feeling brave, how about going to the cinema anyway, and sending Esso the bill. Any legal minds out there with comments on this sugestion?0 -
I just had letter back from them saying i didnt enclose enough petrol receipts which is funny as i had sent three in the first place. All seems a big waste of time.boo on esso petrol.
I am so frustrated that I have just received a letter back today saying that I have sent insufficient receipts. I rung Customer Services and waited in a queue of 10 calls before mine for over half and hour. I explained that I had sent the vouchers given having made the requested £30.00 transactions on 3 occasions and sent 2 out of 3 receipts as stated on step 3 of the literature. Rachel in customer services explained that I needed 3 receipts although it gives the option of sending 2 or 3 on the terms and conditions. I explained that I had the correct number of tickets which demonstrated that I made the transactions but she was adamant that I needed all 3 receipts which is different to what is being stated on the promotion material, she then tried passing the buck explaining that they were just acting on behalf of esso and that they took responsibility. She advised that I needed to go buy another £30 to obtain another receipt, which is now passed the closing date and on principal I have brought the required fill ups, so why should I. I am really disappointed with this promotion given the value of the company running it quibbling over a cinema ticket! Oh well they wont get my customer again!0 -

Firstly, the copies were stapled to the voucher by the Esso garage we used and secondly there was no code on the letter!
Using saynoto0870 I found the following geographical contact us number [text removed by MSE Team] to contact them (You have to ask for Esso Movies promotion help desk when you get through) and asked about the lack of code and apparently they have sent out a lot of letters without goodwill codes in error and will be resending with the code to people affected by this issue.
Warning - Just tried to call on the [text removed by MSE Team] asking for the Esso Movies promotion help desk as stated above. The 'receptionist' says they'll put you through then you end up at a 'voicemail' messaging service where you are asked to input a name or a voicemail number!
Clearly they're getting fed up of all the enquiries via this number and I refuse to spend £1 or £2 in a queue on the 0844 number.
Like a lot of posters on here I have only received 50% of my codes thus far. Hopefully they'll start clearing the backlog now the promotion is finished, but this is just another example of how poorly put together promotions like this are.....:mad:0
