Ok managed to get quote for tyres of £89 each so saving of £4.50 ish a tyre. OH is going to try and go down today to get these done for me. These will have to go on the cards though.
I have just double checked joint account and money left "spare" from not having to pay council tax this month and the extras spent on food I have just sent £86.93 to the cards, save leaving it there earning 0 interest when card is on 18%. At least this covers one tyre
Next months free council tax money there is no more unplanned expenses so £170 should be able to go straight to the cards
Should have budget surplus this month as well where I overbudget in the joint account only small pounds worth but as these payments go out will send to cards respectively. Every little helps
OH has just been notified that he is still under redundancy and looks like could be made redundant at the beginning of March  There is a possibility that his current work will stretch out till April and possibly longer after that so keeping everything crossed that the powers that be can get off their butts and do something.
If the worse does happen his redundancy pay would last a few months. We would cut out parents loan straight away saving us £150 a month. He has good work ethic and seems to be good at interviews so hoping he will get a job soon, but seems fairly good bit of temping work out there at the moment in our area so anything will help. Hoping it doesnt come to this but planning just in case.
Even more reason to get rid of these debts and build up a proper buffer of emergency savings :cool:Debt 13-1-25 - £39K!!!

Grr stupid alignment gone on car, so have had to get that re-done, £35 each so another £70 spent  Cars eh!
Also just braved the snowball calculator. OMG if I carry on making minimum payments on cards, loan and sofas my DFD is July 2017  That is over 5 years away.
Need to re-think plan as this isnt good. Am what I doing right, can I do something different. I am making overpayments, some small some large but also having to use cards in some cases.
Goes of to ponder :cool:Debt 13-1-25 - £39K!!!

Lots of pondering done and more I believe to do, trying to come up with some sort of plan!
Plan so far, if one of loses job then parents loan stops (have agreed this). Sofas is very small and £30 odd a month and interest free so ok to pay this.
OH has today managed to get a 0% balance transfer card, he has managed to transfer £3,000 from CC3 onto 0% for 13 months, this will help hugely as currently pay 17% interest on card. We are hoping CC3 will then be nice and let us balance transfer some money back onto it from one of the other cards. If not then paying interest on the cards but still in a better position than we were in.
We have some savings to build our kitchen extension, if the worse came to it we would be able to pay bills, mortgage etc but would just have to put of having the kitchen built until OH can secure a new job. So not panicking as much as could be, but really dont want to get to that position.
So plans to overpay the 3 cards include the following:-
Ebaying everything we dont need, I still have a huge box of things to do, some only small some large items, but I am sure I can be more ruthless and find a lot more stuff to go.
I was thinking about keeping my horses old rugs but when I do get a new horse I will be wanting something bigger and know they wont fit. I think I can make decent money of some of his stuff so think I need to sell some. I am going to keep essentials like tack, bandages, ropes and all of other gear as would need to have these anyway, just selling stuff that know wont be able to use again.
Continue on doing daily clicks and surveys, daily clicks only brings in small pence but doesnt take long and really helps. Surveys again boring but provides money in paypal and lots of vouchers which I use for presents etc.
I am going to ask my boss to see if I can get a small percentage of my pay back as the work that I am doing is way above and beyond what I should be doing and as the lowest paid in the company I dont think £500 will be the end them, but it will help me.
Today was good, OH spent £20 at butchers picking up some pre-ordered meat, but have spent the day being productive. Cooked chicken for tomorrow, whilst that was cooking also used oven for snacks for OH to take tomorrow for when he goes to work away, save him spending money on junk, also cooked lots of cakes, so have no need to get emergency sweet stuff and made stuff for sandwiches for me for the week.
Snowing here now so no spend day planned tomorrow, lots of ebay, OH goes away tomorrow for work, weather dependant, back thursday so helps with grocery bill as just me.

Hi Baldybear - we had quite a bit of snow but just rock hard ice everywhere today. Horses made me laugh going out yesterday in it. They walk with their noses down in it as they are going lol.
Bad news about the car repairs - how frustrating - but good news about the 0% card.0 -
LAM many thanks for your post. Your comment re the horses made me laugh, can just imagine them sniffing, like they have never seen it before
Sofa payment came out today so another £30 off the debt and £4.85 to the cards from the budget surplus in the account.
Car insurance renewal came, £200 more than quoted on line so off to see what I can do, not paying the renewal price!Debt 13-1-25 - £39K!!!

Mission Accommplished
Car insurance renewal £537  Did lots of online quotes including a few which will earn me a few pounds of cashback, called existing insurer and they price matched the lowest quote. Insurance now £360, so just under £200 saved :j

Short and sweet update as not much happening in Baldybear land! Another ebay item sold last night, only 1.04 but helps, so 2 parcels ready to send today.
Boiled up giblets left over from Christmas last night, made some stock, added to chicken leftovers and random veg and put in slow cooker last night so nice soup this morning so have that for lunch today and another 2 oe 3 portions left
Probably not a NSD today as booking tickets later to see a band in April, know not good when in debt as £19 a ticket, but need to have some sort of life and a chance to see friends I only usually see at gigs.
My sister has booked tickets for a show for her birthday, unfortunately £60 so need to budget for this next month, will be out of my £100 misc spends, so will nede to be extra careful as will only have £40 spare.
Parents have agreed to give me £250 towards my car insurance for my birthday so only £110 needed out of savings to extremely pleased with this and will definitely have enough to pay for the house and life insurance outright and maybe a wee bit spareDebt 13-1-25 - £39K!!!

Yesterday ended up being a NSD as felt really rough so went home at lunchtime and spent rest of day in bed. Still feel bleurgh today but at work trying to do the million and one jobs that need doing! Really want to be at home but struggling on.
£17 from ebay and £8 from survey sites have landed today and sent to CC1, over budget amount in joint account of £17.88 has been sent to CC2. Small amounts but all help
Will be buying my tickets today, £19 x 2 and need to get the cash out of £60 for sister, but apart from that no extra spends, shed loads of food in house which will last for ages, lots of fuel in car and no planned outings.Debt 13-1-25 - £39K!!!

Yesterdays spending confessions! £19.28 x 2 for 2 tickets to concert. £52.44 in Waitrose. £50 of which is cashback for sister as had £10 in purse that I had forgotton about! £2.44 on butter for office, bread roll and some emergency chocolate!!
Mum came round last night and have managed to get all paperwork filing up to date, havent done any in abour 4 months so pleased with this. Still need to get a few more bits organised like getting some more hanging files but not urgent so these can wait.
A NSD todaySmall overpayment of £5.13 made as few more bits come out of accounts so surplus transferred over. A few watchers on ebay items, really need to get some more on this weekend. Really waiting for a free listing day as have several large value items to go.
Hoping to take tomorrow of work as really not feeling great still, so hoping to speak to boss later.
Spoke to MD this morning about increasing salary so not on 20%, he is going to go away and think about it, he isnt sure as thinks everyone else would want to increase, but we wait and see. The only outcome from the conversation was he was thinking my 100% salary could probably do with an increase so may get a pay rise in the future, but would really like some of it back now :cool:Debt 13-1-25 - £39K!!!
