In April 2006, DSG International Plc, 2nd European and 3rd worldwide distributor of consumer electronics, became the major shareholder of the Pixmania group.
where does this say they are OWNED by DSG[/QUOTE]
DSG became the major shareholder.
What is the major or majority shareholder?Majority Shareholder
A person or company that owns 50% plus one of the stock in a publicly-traded company. This allows the majority shareholder outright control of the company's operations, especially the election of its board of directors. Some majority shareholders are not involved in the daily operations of the company, but most are. Indeed, the majority shareholder is often the company's founder.
Or
A person or entity that owns more than 50% of a company's outstanding shares. The majority shareholder is often the founder of the company, or in the case of long-established businesses, the founder's descendants. By virtue of controlling more than half of the voting interests in the company, the majority shareholder has a very significant influence in the business operations and strategic direction of the companyDSG is the majority shareholder of the Pixmania group.
This group includes Pixmania.com and Pixmania-Pro.com, therefore DSG has control over Pixmania.com and Pixmania-Pro.com as these are part of the Pixmania group.http://jobs.pixmania.com/about/major shareholder does not mean they own the businessyou can have 49% and be classed as a major shareholder. But DSG are not just a major shareholder. According to Pixmania themselves, DSG are Pixmania’s majority shareholder, and the rights and powers of the majority shareholder are explained above.0 -
you just need to look at any pixmania site and their is no mention of DSG, if DSG did own then then surly this would be mentioned on their sites rather just in the media which we all know tell the truth 100% of the time
oh yes - even though it *does* say it on their website, just because it doesn't means absolutely nothing.
https://www.dobbies.com (Chain of Garden Centres)
https://www.blinkbox.com (Online Video Streaming service)
https://www.onestop.co.uk (chain of convenience stoes)
https://www.nutricentre.com (vitamins company)
what do these sites / companies all have in common?
They're all OWNED by Tesco (ie they are the major shareholder)
But you won't always find any reference to this on the website. Doesn't change the fact.
There is often a very good reason why they don't splash the parent companies branding all over their website.
Few more examples:
https://www.ferrari.com - no mention of Fiat
https://www.topman.com - no mention of Acradia Group
https://www.pixar.com - little mention of Disney
etc etc etc etc
If you don't 'get' this, then you're not the businessman you think you are.0 -
An Ipod Nano was ordered on the 14th December and failed to be delivered. To compound issues, it was caught up in the Yodel computer fiasco, but still there is no sign of our goods. Needless to say we have been on the phone numerous times and an 'investigation' has been opened. There is no way that the contact centre operator will put you through to a supervisor, the investigation timeline expands as the operator disputes ever receiving emails or calls. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I have contacted trading standards and their advice is:
Under the Distance Selling Regulations, Pixmania have 30 days to deliver the goods, after that they are in breach of contract (I realise they contract to deliver in advance of that time - but for purposes of the law). If you effectively cancel the order at that time, they then have 30 days to refund the money.
If the purchase is over £100 and you pay by credit card, then the bank is equally liable as Pixmania under S75 of the Consumer Credit Act.
We have opened a dispute with the Credit Card company and if on Monday our Pixmania 'investigation' is not concluded as they promise, we shall be sending them a recorded delivery letter cancelling the order and demanding a refund.
Trading Standards have given us a case number and promised further support if required.0 -

Don't think we will get an answer, notice he has now been PPR'd.0 -
He's been banned? Seems a bit harsh really. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

He'll have been given a warning and as he's repeated the 'offence' him being PPR'd is only to be expected. It's likely only temporary, unless he's been abusive to MSE staff too.
What was the offence? I have him saying people were idiots a few time but that seems to be pretty much normal for how these threads often go!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
