thanks very much ladies, im just such a worrier and cant stop thinking other people are judging me on how i am with her, if she was crying on the bus and i couldnt calm her down i'd probably cry myself but im not going to gain any confidence by sitting indoors so thats why im making myself get out and about. I breastfeed but im going to take some bottles with me just incase, the bus comes once an hour so we've got to get on it first which will be a task in itself, we live out in the sticks so first stop not in the middle of no where is in town which shouldnt take longer then 40mins. I didnt know if i could feed her on the bus or not, but if she needs it i will then, thanks for that
Well done for taking the plunge and geting out! Going out with a baby also means going out with a thick skin. If your baby cries ... so what ... babies cry. Please do not allow other people to have an affect on you spending fun times with your little one. People will look, people will have 'helpful' advice for you and people will also smile and be interested in your baby. Don't be afraid to breastfeed on the bus, in a cafe or a bench ... just take a little blanket or wear a cardigan and go for it ! You will be surprised how many people do not look, rather than look ... and your baby will be happy if you are doing what you usually do.
I remember when my son was a baby, he went through an awful crying stage .. and only in public! I would just put him in the pushchair, hold my head high, smile and walk. I was crying inside but knew that my son would pick up on my stress and things would get worse and worse. My daughter had a thing about having hot feet and insisted on taking her socks off in the pushchair (in winter!) If I tried to put them back on, get her to wear shoes or cosy toes, she went bonkers ... I had to put up with lots of comments from people about her "catching her death" etc but .... she was happy. Happy baby = happy mummy = happy baby ...
Have a wonderful day out and see this as the first of many. Don't expect to get everything done that you plan, but please be proud that you have achieved this adventure and get planning the next one! In a few months time, you will look back and wonder why you were worried. Have lots of fun!!0 -
Decided I'm going to buy the bubs today so just waiting for Noah to wake up. I can't believe at 27 years old I am too excited to wait until Friday to buy baby bibs!!
I know everyone else on this thread would be just as excited though!
Uhm, probably yes. I got excited about the toy storage box arriving the other day. It's a STORAGE BOX, it's not supposed to be exciting0 -
Oh my goodness, I am trying to finish off the last bits at the old house, including some diy, I got 30 mins in and reuben (who was asleep iin his car seat when we arrived) is SCREAMING every time i put him down. Not whimpering, not crying, actual screaming. I'm going to have to abandon ship as I'm getting nothing done and it's stressing me out!
He ate some cheese earlier
Right going to try to do my grocery shopping instead, he better not scream his way round Asda or I might have to gag him0 -

Ooh how is the toy box?
Just realised I put bubs instead of bibs! Looked like I was going to buy a baby!!

thanks very much
you've made me feel alot better about going out, ive just got to try and stay calm
and be thicker skinned, luckily im meeting my sister in town so once im in there we should be ok. No Sammie luckily the bus has wheelchair access so i wont have to disturb her if shes asleep.
Trying to express some milk today but the little lady wont settle, do you have to sterilise the breastpump everytime you leave it on the side for say, 20 minutes? all ive been doing today is cleaning it and wondered if its neccessary.0 -

Oh no
Hopefully he will settle round asda for you! Last week I popped in to asda to get some baby wipes, Noah was going crazy! He had one leg out of his cosy toes and a half pulled off, soaked sock where he had been sucking it. He wouldn't stop crying which made people stare even more!

hi ladies, need some advice, going to get a bus friday to go into town to do some christmas shopping but its the first time me and Maisie are getting a bus and going into town by ourselves, im so nervous she'll wake up on the bus and start screaming to be fed
we've been out before by ourselves but only for walks round the village.
It is hard at first. When my bubs was little it looked like I was murdering rather than feeding him and it took me a while to feel confident about feeding Freddie in public. Now I'll whip my boobs out anywhere. I've not had any problems. TBH, people either don't notice, don't care or look away to give us some privacy. Tops that you pull up, rather than down, e.g. opening buttons downwards are easier because you don't show loads of cleavage. Bubs just tucks in underneath and no one can see a thing."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
toni you might be surprised. I've taken Theo on the bus a fair few times now and he's been absolutely fine. He usually sleeps - I think the motion sets him off, much like being in the car. It is scary the first time you do it, I agree, but it's worth getting it over and done with.0

Thanks fluff, i breastfeed around family now, where as when she was first born i would go in another room so i am getting more confident in that department, whether i could breastfeed in public yet i dont know, maybe if i feel confident on friday ill give it ago
i know Elelyn, im probably worrying too much.... i tend to do that these days, ever since Maisie was born i find myself worrying about everything to do with her.0 -

That's exactly what I was like. How old's Maisie? I only started feeding Freddie when out and about from about 9 weeks I think."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0
