DP set his alarm for 4.30 this morning with the intentions of going for a run in the woods with the dog. I knew he wouldn't get up, he turned the alarm off and went back to sleep however, I was wide awake

 :eek: I'd refer to him as P for a while, the D should only be re-introduced to your vocabulary when he has redeemed himself with flowers and/or chocolate.
  • hello,

does anyone know if you can go along to a baby clinic outside your area to get baby weighed? my sis is coming up from southampton and wants to get my nephew weighed while she is off work. So hoping she'll be able to pop along to my local clinic up north.

Sunshine, glad nursery went well today :) We received our first invoice from LO's nursery today - payment is due by 1st Feb!! Seeing the amount on an invoice in black and white was a bit of a shock to the system - not that I didn't know how much it would be, it's just that now it's on a proper invoice with our names on it, it feels a lot more real if that makes sense. It's soooo expensive! :( I already have a plan for LO's settling in days - the first day (2 hours) I need to be there, but the second and third days (3 hours and 4 hours) I just need to be somewhere locally where I can be contacted and get to the nursery quickly if things go wrong. Day 2 coffe and cake at a favourite local cafe, day 3 lunch! With a quick look round the shops thrown in, of course :D

When does your LO start? I bet yours is more expensive than ours, with you being in London. We are paying 37.50 a day 8-530 includes nappies, wipes and 3 meals. So about 480-500 per month as he is doing 3 days. Whats your fee?

Your plan sounds good! I think I may head to the retail park on Wednesday when I leave him for 3hrs and have a cake and coffee.

Are you doing the childcare vouchers? We both are. I paid the bill this morn with cash as my vouchers dont begin till end of month. However, apparently invoices are sent on 20th to be paid by 27th. I get paid last Weds of every month which may be after 27th....so not sure what I will do there.

I'm not totally sure on the answer but my clinics are all held at surestart centres and I know they've got no policy on only being able to attend locally - you can go to any centre.

We have self-weigh facilities and no one seems to worry about who you are or where you're from; you just walk in, stick your baby on the scales and leave! (remembering to take your baby with you of course).

:D true!! I may send him to the local co op on his way home for a bag (or 2) of mint aero bubbles!!

Serendisglair - I would think that would be fine aslong as she has her red book maybe?

Sunshine - how do the vouchers work? Do you get some of your pay turned into vouchers or is it to do with tax credits?

You can have a certain amount of your wage turned into vouchers to pay childcare. But they take it off your gross wage rather than net, so its basicalky tax free. You are then taxed on your remaining gross wage.

So basically they will take £169 off my gross wage but in return for that I get £243 of vouchers to pay nursery.

Ahh that's a good idea. And your partner does that too? I suppose it makes it a little easier not seeing that amount come out of your bank account after you have been paid.

Yeah his employer has agreed to do it too. So we should be able to.pay the fees on just vouchers meaning what we get paid is ours, so to speak, as nursery should be covered. x
