Just bought a v tech walker for LO for Christmas :) They're £15 on Amazon atm. Also got a giant playmat* - I did a free one-month trial of Amazon Prime and Amazon Family (cancelled before they charged me), and got £10 off a £50 spend, so got both for £45 with free delivery :money:

Think my little man may be going through his 6 week growth spurt (he's 7 weeks on Wednesday) as he's just demanded 2 bottles in 2 hours and has just woken up for another one only an hour later! I'm giving him bottles of expressed breast milk (100ml) - does this sound like enough? We upped him to 110ml from 90ml the other week and he just kept on bringing it up after feeding so I brought it back down to 100ml. I know that he's putting on weight the way he should, but wondered if feeding him a larger amount may make him go longer between feeds?
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Sexymouse, I don't know much about BF babies, but just to share my experience of my FF LO... She had 120ml every 3 hours at that age, but would sometimes demand another feed sooner than that. What we've found though is that each time we've increased her feeds, from 90ml to 120ml to 150ml to the current 180ml, she's brought a bit back up for the first couple of days. But then she gets used to a larger amount in one go, stops bringing it back up and goes longer between feeds. You may find that increasing the amount he has in one go will make him go longer between feeds, but then again he might not want more each time. My LO went through a phase when she wanted constant feeding, and when we tried to increase the amount she'd stop feeding once she'd had her usual amount - and demand more an hour or two later!

I know this isn't particularly helpful - I think what I'm trying to say is that you could try giving him a bit more in one go, but he might have his own strong opinions of how much he wants and sadly there's not an awful lot you can do about it! It does pass though :o

Thanks Nutella - that was really helpful. I just need to make sure that I'm producing enough to meet his demands now. lol It's really hard to find advice on how much they should be having when you express - I know that kellysmom has advice, but from their reckoning, I'm overfeeding him at the moment - try telling Jonathan that!

I don't think you can overfeed a baby - they know when they've had enough and then they'll stop. I think others on here have found the same with the Kellymom amounts - just goes to show (yet again...) how every baby's different. I'm having a similar challenge now with weaning - I'm always wondering how big a portion size should be! But I'm letting my LO guide me - if she's hungry she'll eat, if she's not she won't. Or so I hope :)

Jedi - I took Theo to a Baby Sensory taster session today. He's 10 weeks tomorrow and although he still seems a bit young and wasn't really taking much in I think he'll start getting more out of it in the next few weeks. Unfortunately the classes aren't actually starting until the end of Jan but we're definitely going to sign up. I think it's brilliant.

Sexymouse I think Theo was having 150mls at that age but he's formula fed so I think it's different. 100mls sounds quite low to me though.
  • Well George went off in the end, guess it could have been a nightmare, or just that the late nap is so far off his normal routine it threw him off kilter. Either way it meant he didn't get hardly any solid tea so I'm expecting a bad night.

Great bargains Nutella! I'm after a big playmat, have grand plans of making one but seeing as my sewing machine hasn't moved since before G was born its unlikely. The walker is well worth the money - George LOVES his - just the front bit with the buttons on, it's definitely helped encourage his sitting up on his own, sits there for ages battering it!

Also for anyone else with vtech toys if you submit a review to their website you might get picked to test new toys! Has to be 200 words though, I've not got mine done yet but I'm determined to finish it soon.
