What a day I've had! Guessing the 6week old growth spurt exists or at least that's what I think we have with our LO!!
Spent all morning cluster feeding every hour or so... Never mind I thought she's just hungry and filling herself up.. Only for it to go on all afternoon and evening! Took 3hr to get her to sleep despite her only napping for about 2hr in total during the day! She just wouldn't give in and kept opening her eyes as soon as I put her back in basket.
Anyway how long am I likely to be suffering this growth spurt? I'm guessing some of yr babies have been through it.. Seems v common on google.
Am really tempted to give her a bedtime bottle of formula if she's gonna be this hungry... Just to save my nipples and sanity!0 -
The 6 week growth spurt is notorious Jen. Don't give in with the formula, what she is doing is upping your supply, so she can start to take more milk to go longer between feeds. It should last 5 or 6 days at most. Slap the lansinoh on when you can, keep your fluid intake up, and get the tv remote and relax with your feet up
also eat cake

Dont give up breastfeeding. It may save ur nipples and ur sanity but poor little one will not get the same benefits from formula milk
Your milk helps baby become stronger, build their anti bodies. It contains everything your baby needs. If you can breastfeed then i recommend u do. Im still nursing at 15 months and my son is on 3 times a day solids. A great way to save money on the fruit pouches and pots i find is to buy a 1.50 bag of supermarket apples. Boil half after peeling and de-seeding. Straight into ur food processor with a bit of the boiled water makes a great puree no sugar all nutural and my little one finishes 5 apples worth in 3 days! 75p for three days of fruit puree its fab try it. Taste lovely too x0 -
Jen gilly is right....it's nature's way of (all of a sudden!) letting your body know that it needs to make more milk, pronto!
Ive read in quite a few different places that a lot of women give up at the 6 week growth spurt, either through exhaustion or fear that their baby isn't getting enough. Please don't worry you aren't making enough - you are, it's just time to step it up a notch, and this is how your baby tells your body what to do...clever huh!!
If BF is what you want, then hang in there. Come and let it all out on here, there's lots of us who have been there done that, got the bags under the eyes to prove it!!
The 6 week growth spurt was just under 4 days here....I found it better that instead of thinking "oh my goodness what is going on, he should be feeding x times in y hours but it's constant etc ect", instead I just let all that go and set myself up for a "nursing vacation" - basically you don't do anything except eat, hopefully sleep, drink lots of water, and nurse nurse nurse!!! Got any box sets of DVDs you've wanted to watch for a while?? Now might be the time to get cracking0
