Afternoon ladies.. Hope everyone is well..
Our colicky situation hasn't got any better.. Had serious
    lack of sleep now !
Tried infacol and gripe water which weren't much use.. Got some Colief to try yesterday so expressing milk to add to it.. Have just got back from docs who HV advised to check her over and they've given her baby gaviscon now... Anyone else's baby's been on Colief or Gaviscon... I've heard the gaviscon can make her constipated?

Hi Jen, Aiden is on gaviscon and has been since about 7 weeks roughly. Luckily it works a treat for us as he was so sicky before, I know some say it causes constipation but for us it hasn't.

Coleif did the opposite though and gave him horrific nappies! Might have just been him though.

I bottle feed so maybe different but the best thing for Aidens colic was dentinox drops, with his bottle I put them directly into the milk but I know for bf babies you can feed it directly. It used to make all the little bubbles just disappear from the milk.

Turtle, glad it went better today - is it all finished Fri? Xx

If she's on booby milk she's really unlikely to get constipated because it contains a natural laxative which is probably more than equal at coping with Gaviscon! In fact, I'd be happy if Freddie's poos firmed up a bit - they invariably squirt out of the leg holes of his nappy :D

Jen, I'd try and eliminate dairy from your diet. Colic is spasm-ing of the intestines apparently and not wind related really. Some wee ones struggle breaking dairy down xx

  • Actually feel like I have my little boy back today :-D
After a week of endless grizzling getting his tooth through he actually seems happy.

He's just been chomping on some pineapple, carrot and Mango...which has helped me as I now have them sliced up in the fridge to snack on :-D

It's been a productive day - running, baby group, puree making and some washing up. Might try and fit some sewing in tongiht once he's gone to bed.

best wishes to those that need them - you're halfway through the week turtle so you'll soon have reuben back again :-D
  • He was at MIL today - OH and I disagreed on childcare for this week. He wanted me to book a nursery not a childminder, as he thinks a childminder is more likely to abuse a child because there is nobody to watch them, whereas in a nursery there are other staff. I agree that is hypothetically possible, but i think he's being overprotective. he is 3 months old and I want him to have 1 to 1 care. Not only that, but you can't just book a nursery for a week!

Anyway, compromise was childminder mon tue thur, MIL wed and fri. so I've just picked him up and had to listen to how i should be giving him cereal because he is too hungry. I tried to do the whole "well the medical professionals say" thing but she said its nonsense, each baby iis different, and it didn't harm any of hers. He's 14 weeks old! Now im terrified she is going to give him cereal on Friday. SHe would do it an either not tell me ,or do it and tell me a few days later, she's that kind of person.

I think hes sucking his fists because firstly he can and he's exploring/learning. And secondly...hes a BF baby, hes not used to bottles and the different amount of milk, thirdly when he BF direct the calorie and fat conttent are just right, when you express its not always the right balance. Fourthly he is used to nice cuddles with mummy whenever he wants them ,so I bet there's an element of comfort sucking.

    GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

FLUFF, the only thing left is closing submission from my rep which is the first hour tomorrow, then they will deliberate. I won't know how long for until then. It might be a short while, couple of hours, and have to hang around and get the judgement after, or it might be all day and I go home and get judgement Friday. Tense times!
  • Turtle moose sorry to hear mil could be a problem. People sometimes don't understand how complete breastmlk is. I had my mum suggesting I should top Niall up with formula to Make him sleep longer even though I don't have an issue with how often I am bfing.

I also have a mum who t the first opportunity will want to give sweets grrr

Have worn close carrier today and Niall really settles well I it, I think it helps with his wind:) plus it means I can get on with jObs around the house.

My parents keep telling me that Freddie's thirsty and I should give him water. I'm constantly saying that boob milk is both drink and food but they won't have a bar of it!

  • Had a chat with OH about the cereal thing, and he agrees it's too soon, we talked and he thinks she wouldn't without permission, so I feel a bit more reassured now. :o

J and I went to toddler group for the first time today.. ERGH! It was horrendously full, loud, I didnt know a single person there other than the friend I went with and to top it off J's usual nap is right in the middle of it.
I dont really want to go back next week as the other mothers were very stand offish but I know its good for Jake so I'll probably grin and bear it. Eh maybe I'll try the other local group, it cant be any worse =)

  • Morning ladies. Early one for me today, been up since 5.30am :(. Was late to bed too as it was OH's bday. Double :(. Mil's idiotic cat decided it would be a fun game to try pouncing on my feet and swiping at G's arm while I was cleaning up after an exploding nappy. I'm really not a cat person at the best of times, so hes been put out already.

Anyway, glad yesterday was better turtle, hope you don't have to wait too long to find out the result.

I'm in two minds about weaning, looking forward to trying him with new things but also worried about making sure he has all the right things too. And I hate the thought of food getting thrown around everywhere!

Today I think we're going to the petting farm near here. G probably won't appreciate it but oh and I love it, we've been loads of times :)

    Hope everyone has good days
