He has also resisted sleep this afternoon, I was hoping to nap when he napped grrr
For those ladies who had csections when did you start driving again? (i know u are supposed to wa it for 6 week check)And are you supposed to wait for 6 week check before having sex?
Laura
I had a c-section and drove as soon as I felt up to it which in my case was about 10 days (probably would have been shorter but the OH was on leave so could drive us all around).
It's a bit of a myth that you're not insured (although worth checking your insurance documents). Mine make no reference to c-sections.
I think a good rule of thumb is.. are you happy to do an emergency stop or would you fear for your wound if you did? If so, don't drive. But if you think about it... that means don't travel in a car at all as you're still subject to a seatbelt cutting into you.
Re. sex, you can have it as soon as you feel up to it. Bit like the driving really. But without the insurance."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Bluebell hope the poosplosion wasn't too bad!
On nappies, Huggies were actually fine for my boy, but my fave are Mamia (from Aldi), soooo cheap and a great fit, no leaks here.
Sunshine my employer are massive, nearly 500 million turnover, national company, and they are owned by a company who deal in billions! It means they think they can do whatever they want as they have enough money to do it. I'm struggling to pay my £3750 solicitors bill! In facts if I lose, then it's credit cards until I go back to work cuz thats wiped out all my money (and a bit more!) that I had put aside for being on mat leave.
Fluff, Katie I personally find Reuben's day-after-hot-day poo is still yellow just lots more liquid than usual (so much liquid that the nappy doesn't even absorb it). We only get green poop here when he's a bit off colour - when he has a cold, after his jabs etc.
Jedi I asked my HV about driving when I was 3 weeks post section and she was surprised I hadn't driven already, like fluff said, if you can do an emergency stop (and turn around to see your blind spot) then go for it. As for se x, go for it whenever you feel up to it, and just take it as easy/slow as you want.0 -
Hope the Solicitors wasn't to bad today turtle, sounds like a very stressful situation for you, especially after having a baby.
Jedi, I had a section and was driving after 7 days, more out of needing to travel to see Poppy in the NICU, if she was at home with me I doubt I would have driven so soon after. I called my insurance company to double check and they said as long as I felt up to it to go ahead. As for the sex, it was exactly 2 weeks after my section, I didn't bleed that much and felt ok, obviously it wasn't swinging from the chandeliers type sex!! It was the longest period me and OH went without sex! I must admit having Poppy in her own room now has been great for our love life!! Everybody is different though and you will know when you are ready!
Taking Poppy swimming tomorrow for the first time, got her swimming nappies and a cossie, has anybody got any tips to offer to make it as easy as possible?
Thanks for the pram ideas I've narrowed it down to either:
Quinny Moodd
Icandy
Oyster
Mylo (Thanks for the Boots tip Gilly!)
So not really narrowed down much at all!!
Think Poppy has thrush in her mouth, her tongue looks white and spotty! Seeing the Consultant at the hospital for a check up on Thursday morning so will ask him, seems pointless to see my GP tomorrow when I'm seeing the Consultant on Thursday.

Seren, I went to a Rosemary Conley group a few years ago and found that the weekly weigh-in kept me on the straight and narrow. Knowing that someone else is going to weigh you and write it down does make you think before you eat something you shouldn't! Their classes also include a 45-min exercise session, which I found useful. But RC does involve calorie counting, which suits the control freak in me, but won't be for everyone!
Delain, you'd of course be very welcome to join the weight loss list if you like, but no pressure. I think as of next week we should amend it to individual targets.
Turtle, hope it went OK at the solicitors - can't believe how much you're having to deal with at the moment. But glad you found a childminder that Reuben likes. Thinking of you
LO had her third set of jabs today - so glad we're now getting a break until she's a year old! So far she seems fine, although has slept for two and a half hours and is still asleep! She also wasn't very interested in her milk earlier, which is not like her at all, but I'm not too worried about that (yet).0 -
C-section, I don't drive so can't help there I'm afraid. As for the sex, hubby still doesn't feel like it, which is a bit of a worry as it's now been months (and it's always been the other way round if one of us hasn't felt like it)...0

Hmm new development here...Reuben cries when left alone.
Zero housework done today!!! His bouncy chair is in pieces from taking it on hol, and I need OH to put it together (I tried and failed!), so I've basically been trapped in the living room!!
I've been tempted to put him in the jumperoo so I can go get the washing out of the machine...but I'm worried it's not ok to leave him unsupervised in it - anyone know if it's ok or not?
Solicitors was good (I think), was there for 3 hours (with Reuben!), just going through a mountain of paperwork. My employer has, i can only assume accidentally, disclosed some documents which are quite harmful to their case and therefore helpful to me, so that's good!!
Are we teething here? Lots of dribble, grizzly and clingy, and gumming his hands (and anything else that goes near his mouth)...Sophie's knee has had particularly special attention lol! Or is this just him figuring out stuff can go in his mouth?0 -
Jannine we are going swimming for the first time tomorrow too
will be interested to see if anyone has any tips!

Yeah! Have a good time! I'm mega peeved, just tried Poppy's cossie on for the first time and it has a tear on the bottom so will have to go back to Next, its still got the labels on so hopefully they will swap it. But now I have no costume for the morning, will a sleeveless vest be OK do you think as a substitute?:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Oh no, how annoying! I have no idea re the vest - I suppose it covers the same body area, but would it keep her warm enough? I don't know if the swimming cossie material is special apart from beig stretchy?!
I'm dreading getting in my costume in public....I did try it on a week ago, but I'm still a size and a half bigger than pre-prego and boobs are massive....I am barely contained by the cossie, I just really hope there's a fatter mum than me there, otherwise I don't know if I'll manage the courage to go again!0 -
Jediquigley- massive congrats, what a lovely name!
Dizzi- I have a smiler too... Though mine was a late arrival!
Everyone else, I have just read back. Sorry I've been AWOl the last couple of weeks, I was on holidays...
Rose is standing on her own! Started last week. Very funny watching her weave about like a drunk, but she's getting steadier. Seems to have lost interest in crawling- she will move the minimum distance to somewhere she can pull herself up on. She has three teeth now- we discovered the 2-3rd ones on the Monday we went on holidays. Bloody sharp they are, too.... What else? Found her on the first step of the stairs the other day, so that's a handful on the way, and she's properly made friends with the cat- damn thing scratches me if I'm rough, but purrs while she attempts to rip its ear off. How's that work then?
I'm sitting looking at the wonderful work of art that is my leave request for the remainder of the year. I've 18 days booked off, and I'm just back from a fortnight off. Will be funny to see how it goes down- will be extremely surprised if they quietly okay it, considering they initially said they'd have to check if I 'was allowed' to take any time off when I'd just arrived back- this was booking off the last fortnight when I was fresh off maternity! At this stage, prehaps because half of my shifts are nights now, and I'm not engaging with nasty boss- I find all their mistakes amusing rather than aggravating, and I'm having fun talking to HR!
Well done weight loss ladies- I have a unique method for you all- I hulahoop every day! I've mastered the basics of the ruddy thing and can now do 5 mins before dropping the hoop- which is a lot better than the paltry 2 seconds on my first attempt.... I've even got a couple of basic tricks going, but I need a bigger house..... I can feel little bits at my sides now that felt funny- DH diagnosed actual muscle returning in my abdomen! It's actually pretty fun, and cheap too- they're £15-20 a hoop....
Other than that, I'm aiming for 2-3 miles walk every day, even when I'm on shift. That could be harder to stick to. I did 14 on Monday- it was a lovely day, and we walked for a bit, then decided to surprise Daddy at work- what a mistake! The final mile and a half home, I was dragging my leg a bit, as it had started to go dead, and I had lovely clicky grindy hips and pelvic pain.... Obv still a bit to go repairwise. It's better today, thankfully, though yestarday was fun trying to lift my foot to go upstairs etc....
Rebekah- Sex was never a prob for me prebaby- I had a high drive. After, the will was there, but needed the op in June. Was so apprehensive, but apologies if TMI- lots of lube, a bit of alcohol, and try approaching it like necking teenagers first, and relax into it.0
