Another vote here for a sling. Watch a video on how to wrap it (YouTube), and if youre nervous, put a teddy in it to get the feel of it before you put baby in it.

Gilly poor lad, hope he feels better soon (and hope your finger survives!!)

There's a frog in the dining room ... and no i'm not that sleep deprived LOL!! Hubby went to check patio doors was shut and one was sat there on the floor. Thank god he checked if that went hopping by the bottom of the stairs at 3am I would have thought I had gone delusional!!!

Given up all hope of trying to get little lady in her basket ... feel better now and less stressed out. Give it a few weeks and we'll try again. Maybe she is just too young. Are working on the whole evening - low lights - change to sleep suit - talk quietly thing first though. Baby steps right. Means that I wont waste half my day rocking he and forcing her in and then realising its the next feed time like I did today. Just stressed too much over it. Just had a 2 hour nap and hubby still holding her so im cookng some tea and potterign around. So nice to get out that nursing chair! Changed my clothes and got a new bra on. Aaaah human again ... hope all are well lots of love xx
  • Hey Rebekah :) LOL at the frog! My mum has 2 cats and they used to bring frogs in the house!

Sounds like you are feeling a little better which is great news. And its great you are having a little break, even a quick shower and change can make you feel so much better its amazing.

We couldnt get Aiden in the basket for weeks, to this day I dont know why, I think you are sensible not getting too hung up on it as its not good for you or her.

Is your 6wk check booked? Maybe mention she is restless on her back? I was in my check for ages lol as I went through every little query I had. She didnt mind though and I am sure they have heard everything before.

Anyway, enjoy your little break hun and come chat to us whenever you can xxxx

    Evening ladies :)

I'm still not convinced the dummy is a goer for us, he woke up wailing not long after he was put to bed this evening and only sucked it for a minute or so before spitting it out, however he did fall asleep sucking on his bunny comforter, so I think having something to suck on is the key for us. Fingers crossed!

Glad you're feeling better Rebekah, lol at the frog! I seriously did start hallucinating once when G was teeny - I was feeding him in his nursery at some ridiculous hour of the morning and I could have sworn OH was there with a cup of tea for me, it was only when I reached out to take it that I came to and realised there was only me and G in the room!

Hope all the littlies sleep well tonight, I'm up doing some work but should be done soon I hope.

Thanks ladies. Got my moby will try and master it over the next few days. Yes I do I leave her to cry to go toloo and grab a snack.Tbh things are a tad better in that she will now sit/lie without crying for 5/10 mins and look around wide eyed. So I can grab bits ok for the past few days. Baby steps eh!

Katie OH and I were talking about dummies last night! When pregnant, we had always intended bubs to have one (after reading it reduces risk of SIDS), but with the hospital saga it never happened and then we forgot. We've decided that as we've got this far (11 weeks today!) without one, we aren't going to give one at the mo...but open to changing our minds if the situation calls for it. I'm slightly worried it will affect BFing, and feel bad about lack of weight gain (thanks HV!) so I'm nervous about it. I'll be watching with interest to see how you get on.

Ladies who have already done dummies....how long did you or do you intend to keep them? I've read you should get rid by one year, but then another place said get rid by 6 months...conflicting advice as always :o

I tried introducing a dummy, both because of SIDS and because I thought it might help Freddie settle. He looked horrified when I tried to pop it in his mouth, and ejected it halfway across the room. I've not bothered since.

The literature I've read says remove between six months and a year.

anyone else have breastfeeding/chaning nappy anxiety out and about? i worry about these things. i breastfeed with the help of a nipple shield which is a little more cumbersome then straight on the boob but its the only way Niall will feed at the moment. also thinking about going out and about with no changing facilities near by scares me...silly i know

Freddie's just over six weeks and I've only ever fed or changed him either at home or my parents'. I'm not confident about feeding yet so I make sure my journeys are short and timed between feeds. Don't add extra pressure on yourself when he's so small - stay close to home x.

Morning ladies, hope you don't mind me popping over with a washable nappies question?

We have 2 totsbots stretchy bamboozles for night time use (our daytime nappies are fuzzibunz pocket ones, all came together in a set from fillyourpants) I've been prewashing them this week and found that they take FOREVER to dry - hung out in the sun from 8 - 5 yesterday and still damp in the core when squeezed! The fuzzibunz were dry in about an hour - which is why I chose them as we don't have a tumble dryer for the winter. :o we are going to buy a heated airer from Lakeland, but I still think they'd take 2 days to dry completely!

Can anyone suggest a faster drying nappy for nighttime use, or advise if i can get away with boosting the fuzzibunz once Beanie is sleeping long spells at night? Or should I just buy a couple more nighttime nappies and allow longer for them to dry?
