Sunshine, we've got some number foam mats too. 3 packs from Asda at £4 each made a decent sized area in our living room. Annoyingly, there's no 0, so you can't arrange them count higher than 9. Not that we're likely to be teaching Elliot to count for a while yet....

Turtle, that's crazy that your hv is saying you have to feed more when he doesn't want it! If Elliot is having a grouchy moment and doesn't want to bf, he'll sometimes take a bottle of expressed milk instead, but that only works if he's actually hungry....

Looks like we have a load of builders next door changing the guttering on their house. That'll be an added distraction from work ;)

Edit - maybe it's not the guttering, looks like they are taking tiles off too. Or maybe the bottom row of tiles need to be removed so they can do the guttering properly.

    Morning all :).

George almost made it through the night again! We went from 7.30pm to 10 (I woke him on my wayto bed as his nappy was full) then all the way to 5.30 and then til just gone 7! Hope this is the start of him sleeping through!

Thanks for the book recommendations, I'm going to town this morning so I'll have a look in the library.

Turtle, sorry the hv was mean, did she not have any suggestions on how to get more milk into him? Surely if he's not hungry you can't force it into him! I wouldn't worry too much as long as his nappies are normal and he's happy in himself, he'll probably have a spurt and make up for it. IMO anyway!

Just typically after days of only napping for 30 minutes at a time George has been down for 45 minutes and I really need to be getting him ready to go out to the doctors. I hate waking him, he makes me feel so guilty!

My LO always wants the remote too! Either that or my phone.

Where did you buy your foam mats? I would like some as they could easily be put away at bed time. x

Local toyshop for £6 a set, then saw Tesco selling at £2.96! They're very handy for nappy free too- if she does something it sponges off.
  • Thanks Bluebell, will look when we next go shopping.

Katie - glad he slept well for you. Aiden always sleeps longer when we need to go somewhere, its almost as if they know!!

Turtle- as important as diet is, stress is also a factor... He's not going to go any easier if you're stressing or not, and if you are stressed, you could potentially have lower milk production... Plus, if he's tensing up if you're stressed- see where I'm going?

Chill, and the poo will come....

Need to learn to be more concise, I think. I waffle a lot.

    Morning :)

Bluebell - love the pic of your LO eating your paperwork!:rotfl:

Turtle - not sure I like the sound of your HV, she sounds like she's a bit obsessed by the chart rather than looking at whether Reuben seems happy and healthy, has wet nappies etc. It sounds to me as if you shouldn't worry, and keep doing what you're doing - although I know that's easier said than done when a 'professional' accuses you of not feeding your baby enough! Growth in the real world doesn't follow a line. Our HV is coming next week, and I know she will say that my LO should be feeding more by know - she's FF and 3 months old, and still has the same quantities at each feed (4oz) as she did when she was 2-3 weeks old. Several weeks ago the HV suggested increasing to 6oz - I've tried 5oz several times, at least a couple of times a week, but she'll drink exactly 4oz and leave the rest. There's no way I could get more milk into her! BUT - she's happy and healthy, has plenty of wet nappies and is growing like there's no tomorrow, so if HV tries to criticise I won't be taking it lightly!

By the way, my LO started pooing once every 2-3 days from around 8 weeks, this seems very normal and apparenty means they're absorbing the nutrients in the milk and digesting it better - as opposed to in the early days when everything just runs straight through!

Bluebell, glad you have a nice view for the day! :)

THose foam mats sound good everyone, I'm off to asda in a minute so will see if they have some.

No the health visitor didn't have any advice, apart from "make sure you finish each breast" ...well he just eats until he's full then let's go. If he wants more, he goes "uh uh uh", if he doesnt, his lips get clamped firmly shut! She also helpfully said "oh 10 weeks now so he's sleeping through, yes?" Errr no! But i lied cuz she'd already made me feel crappy about the weight gain :( I asked her to do his length, thinking maybe he's put his effort in to growing longer not fatter...but she refused because it was done 2 weeks ago. He's officially grown out of all of his 0-3 sleepsuits and anything with poppers in the crotch - its all just too short - so I do wonder if he has just got longer for now.

I don't understand why people become a job like a midwifee or health visitor if they are just going to make people feel bad. I had originally planned to ask about some counselling or something re my birth experience as I thought i was getting over it but it keeps popping in to my mind again and I don't think thats right 10 weeks on...but I didn't bother as I had no confidence in her. I think i'll have to skip mum and baby group tomorrow and instead go to a different baby clinic, the one that has my actual hv at. Pah, having a baby has made me lose faith in all areas of the nhs!

Right time to get dressed, pop reuben in the sling and off to asda, think I might get a cream cake to cheer me up ;)
