Morning all
A woke at 6 this morning, so unlike him, but he only took half his bottle at bedtime last night so probably why, luckily my OH is off today so he got up to deal with him.
I thought it was going to be sunny here today but it isn't, we had a big walk planned. Thinking about going to buy a baby walker today, he has one of the push along types but I think he's just too little for it yet. Got a 20% off Mothercare voucher so we will seeI tried him in one in M&P yesterday but the reviews online are shocking, so put me off slightly

Morning all. Mum and baby group yesterday was not what I was looking for unfortunately. I specifically picked that group as it is breastfeeding support too...but I was the only BF mum out of 10 of us - so I didn't feel comfortable talking to the woman running the group.
Also i felt a bit like the school kiss !!! ....the woman running it told 2 mums to avoid dummies (only for bed) and only give water to drink (they had given their babies juice)....I had reuben in a sling and she said how good it is for baby to be close a lot. Then i had to feed him while i was there, ans while I'm sure the people closest to me knew what i was doing ,it was fairly discreet (I wouldnt do it in there otherwie!), the woman went "oh! You're breastfeeding!" In a really loud voice.....it just made me really uncomfortable.
I'm going to try again next week just in case, but ideally i would like some BF support, and also to talk to other BF mums, as thats where I'm missing support/understanding....so may need to find a different group0 -
Nutella - glad little one slept well, hope your delivery turns up soon so you can get on with the rest of your day!!
Gilly - a few of my friends have the new Chico baby walker, they seem good but haven't read reviews yet as we are a while off needing one. Hope you find one you like.
Probably a really dumb question but when I'm on my I pad I can't get the smilies to work, does anyone use an I pad and know how to get them to work? I press them but nothing happens!!:)DS1 10yrsDS2 7yrs :)DS3 born March 2012

That's a shame. It's a good idea to give is another go though just to see how you definitely feel about the group. Netmums is usually quite good with information on local groups etc.

That's a shame turtle, the woman running it doesn't sound very helpful at all! Definitely try netmums though, like sammie said.
Sammie I use an iPad and the smilies seem to work for me :T? They don't show up as the smiley until I press submit post, but they're there as punctuation if you know what I mean.
So far I've got one load of washing done, tidied the bedroom, got the meat for the pie on the hob simmering and baby is asleep. Just got to wash up,peel, cook and mash the spuds for the to of the pie, wash up again, do some work and Hoover. Then collapse into a small heap in the corner! And I optimistically bought stuff to make brownies for pudding but I'm not sure that's going to happen!, apart from anything else I'm half way through the chocolate for it!Newborn thread member

Nite all xxx
Our neighbours out back did similar - have three very bright lights that shine straight out into their garden - but make using the back of our house when they're on (thankfully they don't tend to leave them overnight very often) like having a poo in the centre circle of Old Trafford when the floodlights are on... that was bad enough but I spotted lead twerp installing MORE lights the other day - this time those automatic security ones. I am NOT impressed - considering previously I've had environmental health out over their builders having 17 bonfires in one week, and had to get the fire brigade out when the builders lit a bonfire at 7pm on a Friday night and vanished off home leaving it still burning unattended at 10pm at night.
As for sunshades - we have a parasol one we bought from Toys R Us based on it being one of the few that fitted a pushchair with an oval (not round) frame. It's got really cute dangly bugs inside it - had it up at the wedding at the weekend and Erin spent most of the afternoon making gooey eyes and smiling at the ladybird.
Turtlemoose - why not split it - find a mother and baby group for that aspect and a breastfeeding group for the other aspect. You're probably not going to get all in one realistically with both sides done well. Mind you - I've been pretty much hounded out of our local sling meets by a very nasty lactivist lately (she'd already hounded me out of a local mums and babies group) so I don't even "belong" with the babywearers anymoreLittle miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Clarissa I just saw your comment, the one thing we found helped was colief, but it isn't cheap, but I know some doctors will prescribe it. What I would say it, keep an eye on it, it may not be colic, it could be wind, baby reacting to something in your milk (if you're breast feeding) any manner of things. It is horrible to see them in so much pain though
hugs xx
R.e the breastfeeding groups, it's so weird, another lady I spoke to, she goes to breastfeeding group, and you can't go if you don't bf. All areas must be differentThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Katiechoc - I know what you mean re the smilies as when I'm on my I phone they come up as punctuation
!!
Just get nothing on the I pad! Im not very good at computer stuff either so may have to get dp to have a little look when he gets home.
My friend has just text me asking if I want to take the kids to the country park I went to yesterday!! The boys love it there and it's a cheap day out as you only have to pay £1 to park all day so will be going there again once Noah has woken up and had a bottle and his bum changed

I was wondering if any of you had experience of a cholicy baby? Our day old appears to be suffering from this and already finding it really hard.
Around two weeks I thought Freddie was getting colicky (I don't think it is now - I think he just guffs a lot). I tried infacol. Biiig mistake. He screamed for 24 hours. I swear it gave him colic; not cured it."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

Infacol is supposed to bring all the little bubbles together so they find them easier to bring up, but what it can actually do is join them together but they are then too large to come up, so it's really painful for themIt made things much worse for us, colief was great for tummy pains/grunting etc though I found xx
