Gilly- any more than the 3lb you lost would start indicating a health concern.... Your weight will fluctuate by up to 2.2lb a day, so it's important to weigh yourself at the same time for accuracy. Ideally, you aim to lose 2lb every fortnight, as losing slower generally means good habits get ingrained, and you are less likely to yo-yo or bounce back to your previous weight.
Good going though, everyone on there!
Our trick today was to stand up repeatedly. Plus, now she thinks letting go and slamming back into the ground is fun, so quite busy scrambling to keep a daredevil baby alive.....
Work is actually a rest tonight!
Paediatrician tomorrow- two issues. The dribble rash- it gets marginly better with Oilatum, Gilly- which is quite bad now.. The main reason we're going is she has had a hoarse throat and a rattle in her lung since March. Requested a referral, as my GP continually wants to wait and see if it clears. Doesn't affect her, but worrying to hear, esp first thing in the morning.
Baby allowed me an hours sleep this morning, then screamed 'Gah' at me- grinning all the time- until I admitted defeat and got up.0 -
I can't believe it, just checked his mouth and we have a tooth popped through. The tip of it is through the skin so hope that's the worst of it over for him
Snap! Charlie has one coming through too, in the bottom :jDFD February 2012

Have been away for most of the last week so only half-caught up on things... went from ours to my parents to his parents, then to a wedding, then back to my parents (used them as a stop off on both out and back trips to break the journey up) and home... car's making an ominous sound now but we have just done about 1000 miles in total!
Baby was an utter angel throughout it all - slept through the entire wedding evening do in a sling (so much that various wedding guests were wondering where she was to start with!) and proceeded to bat her eyelashes and smile at every man who held her (little tart that she is) - my brother is her new absolute favourite man in the world!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Oh my goodness, is it too much to ask for just ONE person around me to be supportive of my decision to breastfeed, and that I am doing it on demand not a schedule. Bearing in mind Reuben just turned 2 months at the weekend, MIL wants to know when I'm going to start weaning  my response (calmly I may add!) was "well, not for a few months yet, when he starts to show an interest in food and starts reaching for things etc"....she says, to Reuben not to me I may add! "well, I never heard such nonsense, we need to get some baby cereal down you and get you sleeping, don't we!!". I dread to think of the consequences if I told her that her opinion was "nonsense"!
She really drives me bananas, she's told me not to bring the steriliser round when she looks after R, because they didn't have them in her day and all her kids were fine. Yes they didn't have rear seatbelts in cars in those days either but I still want you to bloody use one of those, so just use the bloody steriliser because I want you to!!!! Of course when that really happened I didn't say that, I just smiled and mmhmmed. But grr!0 -
Turtlemoose - my MIL is doing my head in lately as well (and we normally get on really well) - first it was the eternal bugging me about her sleeping through the night, now it's the "oh you're going to love food when your mummy lets you have it" and when we were staying there it was the five minutely checks if the baby was asleep yet - NO COS YOU CHUFFING WELL KEEP COMING IN AND SHOVING YER NOSE IN HER FACE!!!!
Plus she went on endlessly about SIL's baby doing X Y and Z (very much the first and favoured grandchild... same as SIL really lol) and then we hear her answering the phone when we were there and it's all about him waking every hour, screeching the place down at 5am etc etc - and STILL it's the child that can do no wrong and mine can never compare to!
Just ask her if they had electric light in her day - that should shut her up for a while!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Evening all
Phew, busy day here - and I promise I've read back, but baby brain has well and truly struck and I can't remember a thing!
Started baby massage and yoga today - really enjoyed it and I think LO did too. We did legs and feet today, next week we're doing tummy and thereabouts, which is what I'm particularly interested in as you learn massage techniques to help with trapped wind, constipation etc. LO does get a bit windy sometimes... I think her favourite bit was when we did 'child's pose' - not sure I'd be able to describe it, but anyone familiar with yoga will know it, otherwise google images to see what I'm on about.... LO was lying on her back on the floor and I was leaning over her, but instead of resting my head on the floor I had to rest it very gently on her tummy. Which for her was a golden opportunity to attempt to pull all my hair out - she loved it! She also loved the candles, a colourful elephant and the ceiling light
In other news, I've lost 2kg :j
Second set of jabs tomorrow...
I'm off to bed in a minute as I can't think straight - good night all x0 -

Katie are the Lamaze hand and feet rattles any good? I nearly bought those but liked the look of the firefly more, thought I'll get that and see how we get on - but if it is successful I'd definitely be interested in more Lamaze toys, I love the look of them.0

Morning ladies, everyone get a decent sleep? We were up twice and he's been grunting and wriggling around for hours so could have been better.
Nutella the wrist rattle set is ok - the main issues I have with them are the wrist bands are quite short and only just go round his wrists (maybe his wrists are chubbier than average, but I don't think so!) and the socks are huge and come off almost straight away. He liked them though. I think the Musical Inchworm is the favourite out of the Lamaze toys we have, at first he wasn't too fussed but now he likes squeezing it (the different sections all make different noises) and chewing on it's feet. It's about as long as he is so it's good for wrestling with!
We've got no plans today, so going to take it easy I think. Hopefully George will cooperate!Newborn thread member
