Oh no Sunshine, hope he's ok have you seen the doc yet? Poor little man.

I've totally missed my chance for a sleep - he never normally sleeps for long first thing so I didn't bother lying down, but now an hour later hes still asleep! Finally getting a load of photos uploaded to flickr for the grandparents though. First day in weeks with no work so seems a bit odd!

Hi RebekahR, just use it as an excuse to not move while she's sleeping! Its tough the first few days without OH but you'll be ok. It does get easier, although you're probably tired of hearing that?!

Hi Katie, he gave us eye drops and nose drops. Apparently it is just a cold and the mucus is finding its way out through his nose and eyes!! Gross! Gave him a full MOT, checked his chest, temp, ears and nose and there was no infection :) Apparently the drops will thin the mucus and make it easier for him to clear.

Welcome Rebekah, I'll dig the list out later for you to add yourself :) Your LO sounds like mine was, I couldn't move when he slept as it was always on me. Mine eventually decided to sleep on his own at night at about 8 weeks and in the day at about 11 weeks, although I think if I perservered it may have happened earlier. Will baby settle in a bouncer/swing at all? Just so you have a break and can catch some sleep?

Mine is 16 weeks on Wednesday and we've already had about four days of him absolutely positively refusing to go to sleep. He's currently asleep on my bed as thats the only place I can get him to drop off.

Can anyone with experience tell me if its something that will go away on its own or do I have to reteach him to drop off on his own? He was so good at it before, quite happy most of the time to just lay in his cot until he dropped off I didnt even need to use a mobile or music. Now I get punched and kicked, he screams until he's hoarse and it not until he's literally exhausted that he finally agrees to lay with me in a dark room quietly enough to finally drop off.

We had a much better night last night - she actually went through till 5am solid in her own cot before I pulled her across for a cuddle! I think from googling it's where they transition from newborn type sleeping to more adult-style cycles of light and deep sleep - meaning every 45 mins or so they're in a really light state of sleep and can end up waking up very easily (which definitely fits with what we wre having going on). Last night was the first night in a while where she hasn't fought dropping off.

The other problem we're having is that she's trying desperately to turn over so is all arms and legs flailing and getting frustrated with them - I've found resting my arm, or the end of the duvet, or the dog resting his head on her feet is just enough to stop that and let her drop off.

RebekahR - if she's really one that will only sleep on you - have you considered a sling so you're not rooted to the sofa? I used to wander around with her in a moby most of the time!

    Hello all.

Welcome Rebekah, It is quite young for colic to rear it's ugly head, if you're breast feeding cut down on dairy products, it can sometimes help calm colic slightly. With my bubs, he wouldn't be laid on his back at all, and would scream any time he did, and it was reflux, so just keep that in mind. For the time being a sling would maybe be a good idea, just to get a wee break. Do whatever you have to, to get some sleep. I've been there and it is horrific. No one tells you that some babies just do not sleep. If it's any help, my boy was terrible as a tiny baby but is a great baby now, barely cries and is a good sleeper.

Mozzy, hope your first day back at work isn't too bad, and Charlies enjoys nursery.

Sunshine hope baby feels better soon.

Afm, we've had such an issue getting AJ's special milk, had to go to the hospital Saturday night to get more as the chemist couldn't get it at all. We phoned Boots this morning and they said they had it, so I'm going to nip in when the rain stops to get it, so fingers crossed. We had cucumber sticks, apple chunks and Pepper slices for lunch, he really seemed to love it, and was chomping away bless him. Giving him chicken for the first time tonight for dinner. Excited :)

It took me 45 minutes, but i have got Reuben to nap on the sofa NOT ON ME! This is a momentous occasion, I've had a hot lunch (and ate it while it was still hot) AND a wee when I needed it AND fed the cat. Feel like I have achieved loads lol! Would do a victory dance but don't want to wake him up sssshhhh!

Got a home visit from someone from my local children's centre on thurs - anyone else had this? If so, what is it for? I just had a letter saying theyre coming.

Woop turtle that's great! Hope it continues :). I had George almost asleep on our sofa last week when the flipping phone rang and ruined it! At the moment I can only get him to nap by feeding him pretty much until he's asleep and then shifting him to the cot. It works but im not sure it's a good thing to do every time. Not sure how to get out of the habit though.

Glad there's no infection sunshine, hope the drops work quickly. George has his second set of jabs this week so we'll be at the docs on Wednesday too.

Well we had 1hr 50 mins of sofa nap...that's 3 times the length of his usual day time naps, fantastic. In addition to my list above i got two bowls of washing up done, plus took out the rubbish and the recycling.

Rebekah, I second trying the sling. I have one and it at least lets you be a little mobile while they sleep on you. And i know it doesn't feel like it right now but katiechoc is right, this will pass, and in the mean time we are all here for some support if you need it :)

I have now got Reuben asleep on my lap after a feed....now to try sneak him in to the Moses basket without hiim realising....

Evening....I'm feeling desperate this evening for some peace :( My 7 month old has a serious snotty cold and is cutting another tooth, and is really fighting us. He will not let us cuddle him-he just wants to get off my lap. Then when I put him down anywhere he cries to be picked up! We have been trying the pushchair, highchair, activity station, on play mat and holding him...he's fed up of all these. Arrggghhhh! :(
