Nutella I'd say the start of getting baby down even drowsy, is the way to go. We didn't do that for various reasons (reflux/intolerances) and in the end had to go down the controlled crying route to sort it all out. If she is doing that now, she will get there. I remember the early days and looking back now I don't know how I survived in all honesty. 6 months this month and I think I've aged about 10 years.

 got an email today, been selected as a tester for breastfeeding products for the mother and baby awards.....comes to £150 worth of stuff, and I get to keep it after!!!!! Woop!!!

What's even better is (among other things) it contains a nursing cover and a feeding pillow - both things I've wanted to buy but can't afford :T

And gosh, best pull my finger out about routine I suppose :-/ you lot are much more organised than me!!

Reuben sleeps in a Moses basket in the living room during the day - I'm still too new-mum-paranoid to put him to sleep upstairs while I'm downstairs!!! I still like to watch him breathing :o

We distinguish between night and day in the sense of night feeds once I've gone to bed are silent, only thing I say is "sssh" or "goodnight". But thats all... if it's evening, cuz he sleeps in the Moses basket, it may or may not be noisy because he's downstairs....hmm...maybe I could take him in the other room and sit in dimmed light.

Hope everyone has had a good day despite the pants weather :)

Hi Ladies and baba's. Sorry not been on much, its been a bit hencti with me being poorly.
I cant remember who asked about our highchair? It is a Stokke Tripp Trapp. We liked it as it adapts as they grow so you can use it all the way through up til a stool for grown ups! They arent cheap, even second hand, but the resale value is good. We liked that you can bring it right up to the table so LO is part of it, without a tray in the way, but you can get a tray too. There is a newborn set you can use before they can sit unaided, then when they can, you buy a baby set/harness. I got a second hand tripp trapp, harness, baby set, cushion, all from different sellers on ebay fro about £150, but it would have been £300ish new. But as i said, we will use it for a long time, and can sell it on for more or less what we paid.

Yay!! :jThat's fab - have fun testing! I've been lucky too - I'll be testing for the category 'best newborn sleep aid 0-3 months'. Very exciting - hoping to find that magic item that will sort out the daytime naps ;)

    Evening :)

I haven't been on much today so I've missed a lot, but hope everyone's doing ok. I had G at the docs for his first jabs this morning, wasnt as bad as I was expecting to be honest, just had a little cry then seemed to forget anything had happened.

Routine wise all we do is bedtime really - at some point 7-8ish depending on when his last nap was we'll bath him then feed then put him down in his big cot in his room then at our bedtime bring him through, change nappy and feed ad put in his crib. During the day I just aim for having up for no more than 2 hours, and he naps in his big cot in his room. Hes normally out like a light if we go out in the car too, and same in his pram usually.

Best get some sleep, the in laws are coming to stay for a few days tomorrow so need all the energy I can get ;)

Tripp Trapps are fantastic - my brother and I both had them as children right through to adulthood! As you say, they're not cheap, but they're worth their weight in gold, and you don't have to keep buying new chairs as the child grows so probably don't work out any more expensive than several individual cheaper options.

I'm impressed that you manage to have a bedtime routine :) Ours starts with putting him a bedtime nappy and then putting him the sleeping bag, followed by lots of bf on our bed until he sleeps. Last night it took 2 hours... sometimes just half an hour. We started weaning in part because he's getting increasingly hungry (2 hourly feeds at least, even overnight) but although he likes food, he doesn't want all that much yet, it seems boob is best!

At my Dad's today, so hubby can use the garage to weld my Morris Minor's holes up. Looking forward to having Betsy back on the road! We are going to need a smaller folding pushchair though as our current one won't fit in. Any recommendations? One that's fine from 6 months would be OK as Elliot's not far off that. Wow, can't believe how time flies...

Morning ladies, no posts today, hope you are all having a nice lie in!

Does anyone have any nice plans for the weekend then? My OH finishes at 3 today and isn't back until Tuesday, but will be working flat out from then, busy week next week here in N.I. So I think we'l just have a relaxing few days, can't decide whether to get a takeaway tonight or not, our address seems to be completely off the radar, and we can't be found so it just makes waiting for dinner stressful!

Baby was up for 2 feeds last night which isn't like him and he downed them, so think he is having a wee growth spurt, he has definitely grown a fair bit in the past week so maybe he's catching up. He doesn't get his dummy during the day now, only for naps and sleeps, attempting to take it away as he is becoming really reliant but tried it for his first nap today and it did not go well, and I gave in :( will wait until OH is here for support! xx
