We started weaning at the weekend, either that or the new cot bought me a full night's sleep last night! He seems really tired today, but guess a whole weekend of daddy and new experiences is tough!

I got sleeved terry bibs from Mothercare, and a couple of wipe clean tablecloths from Poundland. They're only papery and won't last, but cheap enough.

We did baby rice in the morning, then tried broccoli and carrot pieces in the eve. He threw all the bits on the floor, and the one we put in his mouth he got an end off, and then gagged three or four times before it came back out. I decided I was too scared to be a blw mummy and got some puree out which he wolfed down.

    Hi Ro,
Azra's tastes, she's no diva but does like things that sparkle! Bless little Scott!
Azra is wearing Size 4 actifits - not problem here, but I dont use them at night. I with the dreaded huggies at night, the superdry. Touchwood - no major issues.

For anyone that uses them, papmpers simply dry are on offer at Morrisons £3.20(ish) a pack, half normal price.

DH is looking after LO this week, i sent him a txt two hours ago and called twice - no response. Oh dear!

Yay! Thread's getting busier! After all those lovely welcome messages (thank you!) after my first post a month ago, I somehow didn't quite get round to posting... Oh well.

My little girl is now 6 weeks old, and a very good baby. We're loving watching her change and develop and make new little sounds!

I'm after some advice on bottlefeeding - would be really grateful if anyone would be willing and able to share their wisdom! Breastfeeding didn't work out for me, so LO is on formula, which is going very well. We started off using the 'ready to drink' cartons simply because it was easier in those first exhausting weeks, but this is getting expensive and so we'd like to switch to the powdered stuff. Does anyone have any advice on adapting the NHS guidelines to the real world? Boil the kettle, wait for 30 mins max, then feed immediately... well, I'm afraid I can't predict the exact moment my LO will be hungry (esp not at night) and don't want her screaming for half an hour! What do others do? Boil and cool down immediately? Make up the milk and leave it ready for when LO wants it?... Any advice much appreciated.

Hope everyone is having a nice Sunday. My LO is having her vaccines tomorrow - not looking forward to that, Calpol at the ready...

I wash and sterilise all the bottles in one go then fill with boiled water (normally straight afetr boiling or if I wander off the slightly cooled water) then the water is ready to go when you are.

Either add the powder directlyu to the bottle or you can get a container with little compartments so you can measure out the formula and then simply pour into the bottle just before a feed.
My LO has always had his milk room temp so we don't have any bottle warming issues.

Find this way works the best as you don't have to worry about the milk sitting around and you don't have to wait for water to cool down when your little one needs feeding right now!

I have 8 bottles which does for a full day :-)

    Hello all :D

Nice to see you are around seren, I still like your avvy!
Am still in advance but nuking :) the milk powder. Wish the government would be realistic about bottle prep parenting is stressful enough !! I'd like to see a government minister stand with a Screaming baby for 45 minutes :D then see what he comes up with !

The other thing I get annoyed with the government is that I still cannot have a hard copy of the birth to five book I have to satisfy myself with an online version which obviously I haven't read!

Aimless - a bit  enough at the prospect of weaning (though I am absorbing all the tips in preparation !) without adding to possibility of choking although I know you watch them etc I am just a chicken :rotfl:
I have got baby rice in preparation bit clueless how you prepare it will read the packet when the time comes ! Keep thinking you need to 'cook' it but think I'm being blond :D

Crabapple - I can't believe you do three clubs am well impressed the one I am umming over is in a church hall but I don't go to church :o

(Sorry I was rudely interrupted by !!!!!!! Dylan running around with a used nappy in his gob )

Smiley face - a large sparkler it is then ! Scott is demanding £5 per week pocket money he can dream on I used to get 20p. !
Wonder what happened with dh  bless him at least he's having ago! Sounds like the actifits are good for the day.

Mozzy - how did Charlie get on? You ok?

Jen- hope you and Ellie are ok

Scott says hello to jess !

Evening everyone else am paranoid of forgetting someone

I need to do the survey now as I have been procrastinating !
Scott has been out for the first time in the m&p buggy attachment and not the pram :( he's growing up ! Daddy took him out with Dylan as its so warm

    Tc all

Ro, just quickly before I go sort out the noisy child upstairs (DH is with her but it really doesn't sound like she is sleeping!)...

The church hall group I go to is associated with the church but certainly the vast majority of the women and babies there don't go to church. I can't imagine it would be a problem!

    HI!!

Well Charlie has been given some Domperidone to help keep his food down, so hopefully after a week or so we should see an improvement!
    Now to catch up :o

Ro - not going to Olympic events, but my department is designing and putting together all the daily programmes that will be on sale every day listing the events/news etc, so will be super busy when I go back, with lots of overtime!! I still haven't done any groups, just meet up once a week with a friend or Claire (lucy) who also lives in Hampton for walks etc.
We use Pampers baby dry size 3, and have found them great to be honest. The best nappy i've used so far, but as he gets more active, i'll use the active fit for during the day and baby dry for night.

Bluebell - heehee, sounds messy very messy. Ro!!! What have we to come haha!!

Dizzi - i like the sound of a singing group. I hope Charlie will do loads of that sort of thing when he starts nursery next month. In fact, i'm sure he will. He'll have a ball, i'll be the sad one at work lol

Crabapple - ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww on the mushroom haha!!!! I've got such a weak stomach, don't know how i'm going to handle that!!!

I did see your comment the mushrooms but I am in food baby sick denial!

Mozzy- glad you have got something to try with Charlie hope it works.
Did wonder how Lucy was say hello from me next time you see her. Scott has only seen my friends babas hence why thinking going to have to make an effort with a club.
Boo! to work but does sound like you have a good job !

Seren - how old is your LO now?
