    Welcome Vikkii :)

Elliot seems to be happier and more settled now, he's fast asleep on me though so will have to wake him up for a bath and bed soon!

Id try the SMA staydown, its a purple lid. Its not as rich as SMA Gold. The reason I mention that is because the GP may tell you to try it before they do much so it means if it doesnt work you can say youve tried it if that makes sense? X

Thanks Gilly, I'll get a tub tomorow. I hope I dont sound mean or anything, but I really hope he settles on one milk soon, as we have bought - SMA Gold, SMA Hungry, Cow and Gate, Dentinox Colic Drops and Infacol - not to mention various sachets of milk powder and cartons for travelling and testing etc - its costing me an absolute fortune. I would spend my last penny on him if I had to - but I just want him to settle on one milk and be ok on it :(

Darkpharey - My MIL is exactly the same, I really have to bite my tongue with her. I think it is just how some of them are, she says similar things to me like - ooohh he has got so much wind, come on let Nanny get rid of all of that nasty wind, most of the time he doesnt have wind. I feel like screaming at her I DO WIND HIM!!! I hope you feel a bit better now

    Hello all !

    Welcome vikki !:D

4nnabella- he did go off but woke again within the hour then screamed but went back to sleep ! I stayed in bed until 10:30 !! Was do tired. LO been grizzly a bit on and off too. Have noticed a bit of dribbling etc:eek: don't even go there .... !!! Could be start of something beginning with T Hope your LO feels better soon x

Sitting - how much per hour for your skills?! Yeah still call it nightwatch but somewhat variable timing!! :D

Darkphaery - all Mils should come with a MUTE button  you have done nothing but your best for your LO so don't worry. Second kira's advice, also if there has been a bit of grunting after a big feed and they are due then I lift legs whilst on changing mat and also wipe bum with water (something to do with mammals....according to hubby) which occasionally has desired results  incidentally my mil driving me nuts too she told hubby he could leave bottle out all day and it's fine (which it is NOT)....

Kira / crabapple / Mozzy how u all getting on?

Hi Ro! How you doing hun? All good here. Had a great day in the sun. Had a braai (bbq) with friends. Charlie is well. The Aptimal is agreeing with him. Switched over from SMA Gold. Plus things are generally just better now. I'm more happy and settled since the birth, and that's made a huge difference :)

Hi hon! The T word has hit my LO. Dribbling constant hand chewing, start of red cheeks. If you havent tried it, i recommend getting some nelsons teething powders. My LO loves them, and seems to help her sleep when she is fussing over it at night.

I've started doing some sleep training with LO, to help her get to sleep herself and self soothe, as till now its been sleep by boob, which is not sustainable as its knackering and if she doesnt sleep first off, then its hard cos shes already full of milk. Its day three today, and she went down in 10 minutes, compared to 45 on day 1!
She is also a whopper- over 7kg now, 64cm+ and nearly out of 3-6 month clothes. Eek!
    How are you getting on?

Just got all sad thinking I'm back at work in August, and It's coming up so quick. I don't want to leave Charlie at a nursery so young! But have no choice really. Going to miss him so much :(

Ditto Mozzy, I am due back in July when Lo is 6mo. Its so hard to think about isnt it! Looking forward to Tuesday. Going to try my snooze shade out, see if it helps LO nap on the walk like it did today.

I know exactly how you feel, with Aaron we have been through it all, bought a complete set of Tommee Tippeee bottles before he was born and extra at a few days old, and they were rubbish, gave him terrible wind. We then splurged on Dr Brown, and they seemed to be working, and bought a complete set, but I found they leaked alot, especially as we had to give carobel, so opening them up and back together was a pest, especially with our formula, feeds need to be prepared fresh so were a nightmare and I found he just wasn't feeding great with them, so we've now just bought a whole set of MAM bottles, he seems to be feeding brilliant from them and can down 4oz in about 5 minutes, so far so good.

What was wrong with the milks just the constipation? Hungry Baby formula will constipate more than normal formula, so I understand that. Infacol I found pushed the wind down into my LO's stomach and made him windy at the other end with no means of escape but my boy has cows milk protein intollerance so could be that too that was doing it.

If you'd like to try a stay down milk then you can buy Enfamil A.R over the counter at Boots or any pharmacy, it's a smaller tin than SMA and I think it cost us about £5.60 from Boots. If it works though and your LO has reflux, you should get it on prescription. You may need to get it ordered in though as some pharmacies won't have it there and then. My Boots can get things in for 5 o clock if you order before 2pm.

I know the feeling of buying things though, we tried Aptamil, Aptamil Comfort, Enfamil A.R, Nutramigen (which we bought over the counter £17.50 for 400g!!!) and now we got prescribed Nutramigen AA from the Pediatrician and it costs about £35 per 400g tin. We get it on prescription though.

Apparently 50% of reflux is caused by a cows milk protein intollerance, so if you do get something that works whether it be, infant gaviscon, carobel, different formula, and you still feel something isn't right, i.e baby still isn't settled, pursue it.

How is baby with feeding? Good? or is he squirmy and unsettled?

Edit: I have some Dr Browns bottles I'm looking to get rid of, I could send you a few to try if you liked? I did find them good at settling my little one better.

    Hi Gilly

Good to know I'm not the only one who has spent a fortune trying to solve the problem!!

Well, we were absolutely convinced he had colic when he was about 5 days old, all the symptoms were right and he was just so inconsolable in the evenings, we have persued with the infacol - however I have really noticed a change in his nappys and colic since we swapped to Cow and Gate.

On SMA Gold his poos were very hard and ball like and he struggled to pass them and he was very tearful at about 6:30 until about 9. He was still a little sicky on that milk, but I dont remember it being as often as it is now.

Since we changed to Cow and Gate he has been much better at that time of night and his poos are fine now. He tends to get a lot of hiccups which always bring on some sick too.

He drinks his bottles fine, he has 3oz about every 3-4 hours and guzzles it down. I stop him after every once for a minute or so just incase the speed he drinks is making him sick.

He is squirmy at night when he is asleep, I always think he is awake and he isnt - he is just squirmy.

Sounds like you have really been through it with your little man, glad its being treated now though.

My Mum and Sister keep saying, he's fine its normal for a bit of sick. But I just think its a little more than a bit.

I'm not sure whether to finish the tub of Cow and Gate we have now and maybe try SMA again to see if it makes any difference?

I'm getting him weighed tomorow now, so I am going to mention it. Thanks for all your advice xxx
