hello ladies
Just done a quick read through and probably missed lots as am very tired tonight after a long shopping trip with my two youngest involving public transport...it was interesting! :rotfl:
Jenjade congratulations on Ellies weight gain!
Jannine hope you and Poppy are coping ok and that she is managing to gain some weight
For any ladies who are struggling and finding themselves tearful and struggling to cope at times please speak to your HV about. Although these can all be a normal part of the adjustment to having a new baby, they can also be indicators of depression. I am a mental health trained nurse and have seen depression present in so many ways that the best advice I could give anybody is to seek help/advice over any aspect where you find not just your mood but your general outlook and ability to deal with situations, (both personal and social) is at variance with what is normal for you. Also listen to partners, friends, and family, they will notice any symptoms a long time before you do.0 -

I have since learned from my mistake!
I think all babies are different. As far as I know I've done exactly the same thing with both babies, but number one was a screamer, while I suddenly realised the other day that number two rarely cries really. If you have a colicky baby who screams because they hurt, no amount of routine will stop that, and it isn't because you are doing something wrong.
P.s. I always try food first, you'd be amazed how often they can be hungry!Mine can fuss and not want to feed, then within half an hour scream with hunger if I assume he can't possibly want any.
Popped along to have him weighed today because he'd been coldy and sicky last week, he's now 12 lb 15.0 -
Hello all xx
Lucy- so sorry to hear you have been having a rough time, glad that you have been getting support from hubby and medication. Birth and babies are the most difficult thing but thing will get better xx
Mozzy- just read through the thread, sounds like u have a lot of good tips to try, but deffo speak to hv if you don't feel u are coping. I remember you said that hubby has a big project on and I suspect that does not help as it is very tiring looking after LO practically 24/7. If you can get hubby to take LO when he can it will help as the tiredness is a killer, even if it's just long enough for a soak in the bath. With LO he seems to scream loudest when he is hungry or tired. With feeding we had been on pretty much regimented 3-4 hourly feeds because if the weight problem so we carried on with the same times. He did not really have the chance to get ravenous! We have only relaxed the feeding to less feeds this week as we are conscious he is a LO. Along with what was suggested above by others re feeding etc, tiredness must be a big factor, do what u can to relax yourself before u try and get him down as babies senses mummies stress.
I know that the time hubby looks after LO is a godsend, even if it's half an hour. Also ask advice from hv re LO not resting etc during day if it continues.

Just spent an hour fighting with LO. Battle of wills! She woke early and wouldnt go back to sleep, so brought her down. She as fine for a bit, but obviously tired - rubbing eyes alot, and the odd sighing yawn. I was DETERMINED to get her down for a nap in the crib, and not on me.
Took her up, put her down in the crib - rocked it. Nope. Wide awake eyes and gradually escalating crying.
Got her back out, took her to sit on the bed for a feed. She came off, and went droopy eyed. Put her in the crib, Wide awake! Rocked and rocked and shhhhd. Gradually escalating crying again.
Hoiked her out, held across me, shhing, and rocking my hips. First time ever, she fell asleep on me from rocking. Waited till her breathing was really slow, and she was all floppy. Put her down. Wide awake! rock rock, cry cry... Arrghhh! It is at this time i want to scream, but deep breaths, and determined not to let her win, by hook or crook.
Back on to the bed, back on the boob to finish the feed. Shh Shh rock rock while feeding. She dropped off again and, back over to the crib. A little stir, a little rock, and so far, so good. Still there.
A whole hour to get her to nap. But i won! I am determined she is going to get used to sleeping in the crib during the day. Once she is, then i can work on the how i do it, and how long it takes.
Will not be impressed if the galumphing herd of cats (all 2 of them) wake her up with their stair chasing.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Well done Kira! I've been having similar battles here, it's all about perseverance!
Just had first jabs here! So far she seems ok. Embarrassingly, I cried more than she did! First one was fine, I think she was more shocked than anything else. But she even smiled at the nurse again afterwards. But when she got the second one she really wasn't impressed! Bright red face and big screams! But the screaming only lasted a minute and then she just whimpered a bit. She fell asleep again on the way home and is having a feed now so we'll just see how the next few hours are. Can't believe I cried though! I think it was just her face after the second jab, poor little thing, it just set me off! Might have to send OH with her on his own for the next ones, don't want to embarrass myself again!:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0
