I really don't want to sound like the bfing police here but that is actually a really rare occurrance, it's just such a consuming thing in the first 6 weeks or so because babies need feeding so frequently due to the breast milk being so easily digested. They also cluster feed in order to increase the mum's supply which can also be confused for being constantly hungry. I have no issue with ffing and firmly believe that happy mum=happy baby, but just didn't want the ladies on here to feel they couldn't meet their babies needs. Babies have a sucking reflex and milk comes out of bottles a lot easier than the breast, so this is often why a baby will just keep drinking from a bottle, not always because they're hungry.
That said, I completely understand how physically draining (and sore)bfing a newborn can be because you're tied to the sofa all day doing nothing but feeding and are constantly suffering from broken sleep! The most important thing is that our babies are fed and loved, no-one should beat themselves up about how their lo is fed.

I agree, it's a pity noone seems to explain how time consuming breastfeeding can be to start with, I think that a lot of people feel they're doing it 'wrong' when they hit a 12 hour feeding frenzy! I'm always so grateful to come across 'breastfeeding people' who understand. Like the mother of lanky teen's schoolmate who not only cooed over baby, but also invited me in and provided a sofa to feed on and tea and scone with cream while I did it!
Annabella, mine always does another poo as soon as I get the first one cleaned off, so, mean mummy that I am, I give it five minutes. And still usually get the constantly refilling nappy, he saves them up for me! Earlier we also had the hands heading for the nappy, hope that won't become a regular habit!

Kira, my other half decided he wanted a weekend at home last week. Ok he's got a busy schedule, but owing to this, he won't have seen baby for three weeks in a row, unless I make the three hour (plus feeding stops) trip this weekend.
Oh, anyone else got an early smilier? Health visitor thought she saw a real one at 15 days, I was dubious, but I've definitely seen a few now.0 -

Totally agree with this, wanted to say something similar but like you don't want to sound like the bfing police!
I agree that people need to be told what it is really like so they don't feel like they are doing it wrong.
The 4 month sleep regression is not good, Poppy was waking up every hour to two hours so feel for you with that Caroline. Then we went through teething but generally she is a lot better now.0 -

I found it a bit odd and uncomfortable but if you find smears painful I can see why it would be an issue for you. If you do decide to get one just tell the MW if it gets too painful or you want to stop. And remember, they don't always work anyway. I had one at term and baby was still 9 days late. They'll come when they're ready:)

LO is now sleeping for exactly 1.5hr or 3hr stints between feeds during the night. Its a mix of the 2 times but alway one of them.. Its almost freaky the exactness of her timing!Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Mozzy, to add, I never found it painful either.... a touch uncomfortable, but not sore.
I had one 2 days before due date, another at induction day 12 days later- neither worked! I was asked constantly if it was alright.
Do talk to MW if you aren't comfortable.0 -
Am seriously unhappy with oh now. He got home, gave little one and i a kiss each, went upstairs, spent 20mins on the loo (thats normal for him!), then came down wearing his kit with his kit bag, said bye and went out again! No discussion as to how i was... i think all remaining nappies tonight are his...Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

I'd nip this in the bud now Kira. It's unfair and you need to point it out if he can't realise what he's doing is selfish, especially with Claudia being so young.
Anyone else surviving on toast and cereal at the moment? Even after all my batch cooking, between us me and OH can't find time to stick on potatoes or pasta! Nightmare. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
kira huge hugs, sorry about your OH. My OH went out friday night and i cried after he left as DD had colic and felt so alone and just wanted OH with me even if its just him sitting on the sofa with me
Does anyone know how long it takes to hear back about child tax credits. I gave my form to the registry office when we registered DD nearly 2weeks ago0 -
Gilly I have never eaten this much toast in my life!!
sorry havent been on for a while having a really rough time with Ellie. I am not sure but have a feeling there is something actually wrong with her. her breathing has been very noisy and rapid since birth also laboured at time. took her to the doctors but she said keep an eye on it. also she has a crackling noise coming from her throat, doctor checked her chest and that was clear. also quite often i can hear a clicking noise at the back of her throat.
Doctors couldnt find anything wrong.
Anyway today other half said he didnt want to worry me but when he was a baby he had a major op on his throat as there was something wrong with him and he nearly died!! OMG (he had a dreadful childhood and knows very little about his history etc. Didnt even know when his birthday was until he was 18 and sent off for birth certificate!!!)
Now I am really worried.:j Proud mum to Jade age 10 years and Baby Ellie born Christmas Day:eek: with a broke heartProven to be a little fighter and battling on with her heart condition :j
