Try and relax sunshine. Make the most of the peace before little man is home and running you ragged again x
I didn't know lipstick shape was a bad latch? I've not used shields all dayboth mine go lipstick shaped... I've had pain with one side but that has a flat nipple which I presume is the reason for the pain.
I feel a bit funny and lightheaded. Happened last night too. Body is probably a bit drained.0 -
Sunshine so glad to hear Aidan is improving!
Nutella oh yes I've got a cover for every meal lol
Thanks all ref childcare. I am leaning more towards a childminder, OH is absolutely dead set against a childminder as they could abuse Reu and nobody would know. *sigh*0 -
Money penny lipstick-y nipples can be an indicator of a a posterior tongue tie (under the tongue). Same as lack of wide mouth, it can actually hinder them getting their mouths open wide enough. Lipstick shape means for whatever reason, the nipple is being compressed when it shouldn't be, meaning baby won't be getting as much milk or as easily get the milk as they could do, iyswim. It can mean baby is not feeding efficiently so is taking too long or taking too much energy to feed.
Do you think this could be a possibility? If so, I can post a bunch of useful links, a few of us on here have tongue tie BFing experience.0 -
*waves* chuck the links this way turtle!0

Sadly, there's been many horrific cases of abuse in nurseries in recent years. All this went on in busy nurseries with good reputations.
Childminders are inspected and 'good' childminders work closely with local authorities, safeguarding teams and they have to now attend regular training courses. You can find registered childminder lists from your local council and you can read their OFSTED report on the OFSTED website (you may have to ask for their registration number to read their report)
I found a good time to visit childminders is when they have other children there (you will get a 'gut feeling' when you see them with the other children) or at drop off/pick up time when you might get to have a chat with another parent.
I think I went to see 3 or 4 before I found 'the one'0 -

This one has a great video that shows just why a posterior tie is also called a "hidden" tie - http://www.permissiontomother.com/2012/02/posterior-tongue-ties.html?m=10

Jt100 I completely agree with you, but OH, at th mo, will not budge. He won't even discuss it. I went to a childminder as a child, and it was a positive experience. I have friends who sent their children to nursery and that has been a positive experience too. I think I will go and view several nurseries and also childminders too, make my own short list and then book with OH to view my top 2 nurseries and top 2 CMs.0
