Morning ladies, happy birthday Claudia!
Hope everyone's having nice weekends, anyone get snow last night? We were forecast it but nothing happened. Nice and bright though so might take G for a walk later.
Marta - re dummy sometimes helping - that's just babies for you unfortunately! Sometimes the solution that has always soothed them will just make them cross, for no apparent reason! When G was tiny I just tried everything one after the other - feed, nappy, dummy, cuddle....and then start again basically! Eventually something will hit the jackpot. As he gets older you'll start to recognise his different cries and have a better idea of where to start. xNewborn thread member

Woop tooth 2 is here! One bump of it poked through the day after the first one last week, but it's fully through today. My baby is getting so big!!! I love him so much I feel like I could pop!!!
Have just ordered 2 gumigem necklaces - you wear them and they are safe for baby to fiddle with, bite etc. 25% off at the mo with code fom bounty BFS25 - got 2 using the combo deal on the site for buying 2 then the voucher code, for £22 inc postage, so am chuffed with that, can't wait for them to arrive now! Hoping it might stop him pulling my hair when he on my back!!0 -
Happy birthday to your little one Kira!!
Thanks mlbarret & other for tip re: breast milk and sticky eyes!!
We had an average night & morning, some unexplained screaming which I kept thinking was because she was hungry or windy but neither seemed to help her. The large sicks seem to have stopped for now...will probably live to regret saying that !!
Marta- sorry your little one is so unsettled. It was bad enough having !a screaming hour for no reason earlier so you have all my sympathies xxxx is there anyone who can watch her for an hour or two a day to give you both a break? Are you getting any sleep at night? Sorry your OH is feeling low tooI have no advice except that we would be lost without the dummy which settles her when nothing else will, not sure if you have one or not?!

Turtlemoose - there's a reason my hair is permanently tied back in a bun these days! (Doesn't work - she just goes for the wispy bits that escape over the course of the day)Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

Marta - I'd get a sling asap then - it might work and calm her down a bit. I second the earplugs / headphones thing, I think it's difficult for men to handle a crying baby (not that it's easy for women, but I think it's easier...)
When are you next due to see a HV or doctor - have they said anything about the crying or is it just 'colic' or something? and any baby massage helping? one of the sure start centres in Manchester does baby massage.
As for childcare, not really thought about it. If it's only 3 days could your OH cover? I can't remember how long you're going to take off though, if it's only 6 months anyway then you'll need to look at a longer-term solution soon after that in any case. I did look at a whole lot of nurseries and childminder websites when pregnant as someone on the board freaked me out with a long waiting list. I need to start looking again now though - my problem is I'm keen to 'see how it goes' with going back to work, I'm hoping to do half-time from home for 6 months after my full-time 6 months off and it might be possible to do that without nursery/childcare at all if LO isn't too demanding (combined with an hour or two in evenings when OH is home) but on the other hand it might be completely impossible unless LO is in nursery/childcare every morning or two whole days or something. I think man uni has a nursery of their own ( but may not take one-off days)0 -
Baby's been moved to his own room tonight. End of an era - feels so bare and strange without his cot in our room
. On the plus side, me and the OH will now be able to get back to our marathon sex sessions with farmyard animal sound effects.

Fluff yay for Freddie! Reuben is awaiting some decoration in his room then he's moving...eek! I will get my wardrobe back though - his cot is taking up the wardrobe space and the wardrobe is in his room - be nice to have my stuff in reach! But will miss having baby in reach...0

I've tried moving Jake into his own room twice and failed both times. he's fine until he wakes in the night then he screams like he's being murdered and won't calm down until I put him back in the cot in our room.:A:A:A:A:A:A0
