Actually why do I bother buying toys when she's spent the last 20 minutes trying to alternately eat and garotte me with the hood cord of the fleece top I've put on cos it's cold here. Amateur mummy murder techniques are so much more entertaining apparently (cord's knotted at both ends so she can't pull it out - can just strangle me instead).

Top is now covered in slobber and drool - I'm sure I have an outfit somewhere that isn't accessorised by either drool, slobber or baby vom.

Just reporting back that after taking the overnight milk away from my LO on Monday, he slept through the last 2 nights. I'm sure posting this will jinx it, but hey ho..... :)

    That's great Twigpig!

Charlie wakes for his midnight feed no matter what i do. I really don't think i'll ever be able to stop it. And he gets plenty enough food during the day! I know its probably habit, but everything i've done to stop it hasn't worked :(

..... I wonder if he's getting up for cuddles mozzy :rotfl:

Seeing as someone was asking about routines, we left our LO in his cot in the living room with us for the first 5 weeks and only moved him upstairs when we went to bed.
At 5 weeks, we then put him up into our room at 7 or 7.30 and when he woke for feeds, we did them in the near dark in his own room. I must admit, I really missed having him in his basket next to me at the sofa the first few nights, but it was good for his routine. He's always been a great sleeper.....

Edited to say once he's gone upstairs, even from 5 weeks, he never comes back down again. Hubby once brought him down as I was in the garden to ask me a question. I nearly had a fit! :rotfl:

.................. we haven't even registered Dewi yet...?

A reminder if you're in England, you have to do it within 21 days of birth (42 in Scotland), and usually you'll need to ring and book an appointment as it takes about 30 minutes.
Also if you want an extra copy of his birth certificate, it's cheaper to buy on the day you register as reprints later are more expensive. I think it makes them about half price (ish). I always like to have a spare of anything important as sometimes you need to post them away to people and I always worry they'll get lost... :D

I think you guys have 42 days too, but I'd check to be sure, lol

Quick tip - ask when you make the appointment for registering, ask about the child benefits too. Our registrar signed the benefits form to say that he'd seen the birth certificate to save you posting it to anyone. We did that and confirmation of payment etc came through pretty fast. They told us that they could do this when we made our appointment. Saved us extra faff :)

We did that... child benefits STILL wrote back wanting the birth certificate (after nicely dragging their feet for months first)!

  • Oh carp I thought it was 42 days in England to register them?!

Thanks nutella we try to have a nightime I.e dimmed lights no talking to her ( not really anyway) & last feed upstairs plus Moses basket only !for night in the day she is in her chair on her mat and In her pram (or cuddled!). I guess settling after a night feed is just going to take time :/!

Fluff- thanks for that re BF babies. I thought that about the latch but remembered you bf Freddie & I saw you mention a shallow latch (apilogies if it wasnt you my brain is fried!) so it got me thinking about latching and wind. Didn't know three weeks was windy times though. Let's hope she doesn't get colic! If we think our nights are bad now they'll only get worse if it's that.!

Ok random Q.. Do you have to de-bogey a babies nose? Little miss has loads of bogeys today, will they come out by themselves or is there something I need to do? Hope it's not a sign of a cold!!

Ps thank you patient mummies for answering my questions :-) xox!

RMoneypenny, it's 42 days in England, 21 in Scotland, at least at the moment. I have my appointment for registering her next Monday, when she'll be 32 days. I'm in the North West.

About the nose stuff, I took the big dry bits out with a cotton bud stick and very carefully, as I had to remove the cotton and the plastic could scratch her nose. O have saline drops but it says on the bottle I should discard it after 4 weeks of opening, so I'm leaving it until I really need them. I was thinking that maybe one of those sticks for removing wax in adults might be easier to use, since it's spoon shaped and tiny.
