Thanks, yes please to joining the facebook group
Elliot is being really very good, he's looking quite yellow at the moment but feeding well and alert so they've decided he doesn't need the lamp treatment for jaundice at the moment. He's letting us get a bit of sleep, as long as we start trying to sleep at about 8pm we probably manage to get 8 hours in total by the time it gets to 8am!
I have to say doughnut shaped cushions are good.... I'm still feeling quite wobbly but the iron tablets are definitely helping. DH is great, has been doing all the cooking, cleaning and nappy changes.
I had no idea babies poo could look like lentils, quite amazing. We've also had our first projectile poo session, which luckily came off the carpet remarkably well.0 -
It wasnt like the two nights of unstoppable crying, so i dont feel as emotionally wrung out, just tired. She just wouldnt settle and sleep between the feeds 9pm-3am, it seemed she wanted to poo and couldnt quite get it out, and grizzled herself awake everytime her eyes closed, so i didnt get any kip till she eventually went down after her 3am, but managed to sleep between the next 3 feeds. We did have projectile pooing last night as well, which was amusing....
One of the things they teach in baby massage to help with the poo, is to rub their belly clockwise, if you see her struggling with the poo. It will not only soothe but helps the bowel movements.
HTH
We put our LO into the cot for the first time last night, he has been sleeping in the moses basket in the cot for weeks and has been sleeping really well, but last night in the cot he slept fairly well for the first part of the night, then woke every 1-2 hours, any advice or is it likely he will assimilate to it in time? I am assuming he will be ok when he gets used to all the extra space, so just want to check that I just need to be patient?
Thanks

Hello All !
Think it's about time I graduated officially !
Please can I be added
Scott born 17th January 2012 first baby
I am pleased to report I have completed my initiation ceremony
Mil has has proper quality time with us today and I only inwardly screamed twice ! She is honestly lovely but does my head in from time to time
If I hear the words 'your feeding him too much' no we are not we are trying to make him gain weight so we can be signed of to hv he lost too much after birth due to a bumpy bf start, we are combined feeding etc etc
'you should sit him on a potty then he won't mess his pants' firstly he has not got any pants he's less than 2 weeks old and I am not holding him over a potty I have better things to do with my time....
Scott has had his first outing in pram with hubby and mil. Scott will kill me when he is older as he was filmed dressed in full knitted finery made by mil including white bonnet with ribbon, bootees and mittens with pom poms and a cardigan so cute but so evil poor Scott
Tc all

Had a row with OH earlier as he was, for once, making bottles, and I boiled the 'just right' kettle on him. Lol. I had asked but took the grunt as a yes. He was well miffed. Now he knows why I always nag him about not touching the kettle. Maybe I should share the 3am bed and baby changing fun too?
We have ended up buying a new Extra kettle to make life simpler this one is out of stock online but we found it in our local store

I think it's a bargain as its better quality than buying a normal cheap one

Hi Kat,
Thanks for the heads up. I had mentioned the poo issue to the HV who came this week, and she gave us a sheet on some basic baby massage moves, inc the circle massage on the tummy. It seems to help sometimes, to the point of hearing the movement inside (!) other times, she hates having her tummy touched.
On other news... got signed of from CMW's today, they were very happy with LOs weight and progress, and my stitches are apparently healing very well.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

I'm also realising we've been very lucky with the bf, not only baby and me getting the hang of it (her faster than me!) but also with the support from the midwives while we were in hospital advising on positioning. 3 day weigh in she had only lost 5% and I'd be very surprised if that was not back on already. The only problem is that she seems to feed far more in the evening/at night than during the day and I'd prefer it the other way around for obvious reasons.
This is completely normal, and you do want it really, its called cluster feeding, they can also get quite fussy in the evening too, its coz they are storing up for the night, it helps them sleep longer so its a good thing. I find the more he eats from about 6pm onwards, the longer he sleeps.
