Marta, it's your right to get a copy of your hospital notes, although they're allowed to charge you for photocopying them. At my hospital I was asked to go through the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (www.pals.nhs.uk).

banama, the first few weeks of breastfeeding are awful. I doubt there are many women who don't end up in tears at one point or another. It gets easier I promise. Hang on in there. Keep asking for help and try not to get disheartened if you feel you're getting nowhere. Things really 'click' around five or six weeks.

I was forewarned by my midwife she'd be taking my notes next visit and gently suggested (she knew I was considering a complaint) that if my notes were to "accidentally" fall onto a photocopier repeatedly at different pages it might be a very convenient coincidence!

    Bless her!

Shields worked! 7pm feed, straight on no fuss and fed for 20min! Came off to sleep then ^^

I expressed the other side and finished off the one he used. Think he got around 40ml. His boob had maybe 10ml left... based on the other boob :)

No top up tube feeds. They'll just let him sleep until he's hungry/4 hours as he's still sleeping heavy because of the meds.

Can't remember who asked but he's on the meds for 2-12 weeks. Consultant did they will wait until he's "grown out of it" instead of weaning him off. So all depends how big he gets. I can give it orally with a feed at home :)

I bought um.. oh god medela? The company that makes the breast pumps everyone raves about. Well they were £8 for two and a storage box. They're so thin I could feel his lips and he didn't come off at all! So chuffed XD

Gizmodo - I think that's what Kira was saying about ! Block feeding. Just trying her on the left again, that's the one she had a 10 minute feed from 2 hours ago. Would I then offer her the right even if she seems full or sleepy on the left?!
Yeah always offer - she can only refuse. That's what the women at the BF clinic used to advise me. You will eventually get a feel and just know what to do and then do your own thing because you just know it's right IYSWIM? :)

Yep, totally agree with this. I nearly gave up so many times. But unfortunately it was 3 months before I had pain free breastfeeding. I had mastitis and thrush in my nipples (probably from taking the anti bs for mastitis).

If you're on anti b's make sure you drink probiotic drinks to help replenish the good bacteria that the anti bs kill!!! Might help prevent thrush and trust me you don't want that.

  • Great news bamama!

Thanks gizmodo for the help. Really interesting to know about Thrush and antibiotics As I'm on some sort of horse tranquilising antibiotics to get rid of my section infection - all I need now is thrush as well!!! !

Happy new year one and all & that's for all your help so far. Little one been asleep since last feed I'm just feeding her now and hope we don't have night time shennanigans tonight. I wonder if the silence of upstairs unnerves her? She slept through the entire bbc new year party! !Might have to try an iPod Tonight upstairs. Wish me luck for at least a sleep between feeds! Let's hope she's turned over a new 2013 leaf !!!
