That's why I want a Panasonic, dizzi, it seems to be the brand that most people are happy with and offers the most consistent results. At least according to the breadmaker thread.

I've just put together the Graco travel got/crib and it's great!! Very good quality!

Hi Jannine only on this thread as was checking for an update on yourself and Poppy, (amongst others in case I seem stalkerish!!!!) It would seem I bruise if somebody looks at me let alone touches me. However it was discovered several years ago that despite being in my 30's I suffer from Pernicious Anaemia. Apparently unusual in my age group....but has now been the suggested reason for several pre term deliveries so worth investigating possibly? It is an autoimmune disorder that stops your body absorbing b12 but shares many traits with iron deficiency with the lack of short term memory and inability to concentrate being far more pronounced in my case.

If any of you ladies think this sounds at all relevant please insist you are screene as this condition is not apparently routinely screened for until you are 65+!!!

Thanks for this info, will jot it down when I see my GP next week. I'm assuming the first thing he will do is a routine blood test and go from there. I actually mentioned it to my HV today at baby weighing clinic and she asked if I'd had my bloods checked 6 weeks after delivery as this is normal round our way, I haven't had any bloods taken since being pg! Apparently it normally happens at your 6 week check which I didn't get! I was told not to bother going to see my GP as Poppy was still in hospital so I've never had a Doctor or Midwife even check my scar since being discharged 5 days after delivery, or even check my BP which is quite scary after suffering extreme pre-eclampsia!! Think I've slipped through the cracks!

Hope all's ok with you Koalamummy?

    xx

Thank you Jannine it is always well here as we are alive and are stuck with each other! :)

I know how you feel about slipping through the net. My oldest 2 were early babies and it seemed that nobody could agree who we belonged to, ( complicated massively by relocating massively at least 300 miles to home first time round!)

There are however standard blood tests run on most new mums, b12 deficiency amongst others is not one....if after a bit of research you feel this may be relevant please ask for a blood test. At worst they are ruling out one cause of long term neurological damage :)

Good, glad things are well! Think after having a very poorly baby and you come out the other side most things seem quite trivial in comparison!

Will certainly look further in b12 deficiency, my Mum has already scared me to death saying that bruising easily is a symptom of leukemia! Just what I wanted to hear Mum!!

It took years off my life getting here though! ;)

My oldest attended a specialist nursery where I was concerned that they were just not specialised enough....Howevever my preemie who had his last rites read on my 23rd birthday now has size 11 feet and is at least 6 inches taller than me. He is 13 and was born at 27+1 and has ha several major interventions since then...the last killing his footballing dreams but as we have discussed there are plenty of other dreams for those brave enough to have them :)

Hi mlbarret!! Our babies were born within half an hour of each other! :) We are now doing "shifts" here, lol. One of us stays awake / with naps during the night whilst the other one sleeps, then change places early in the morning and we are back together in the late afternoon. But I'm not sure what I'll do when DH goes back to work!! I guess just have constant naps between feedings. Or maybe by then she'll sleep for more than two hours on average, and it will be easier to manage?
How are you doing? We are both thrilled and smitten :D I could just keep looking at her for ages doing those little cute noises on her sleep!!

    Hi Marta

Not doing too badly. Think I'm still suffering the baby blues as quite tearful at the moment. Really need to sleep/nap more often. Hubby had 3 days at work last week and it wasn't too bad, but then, our dog was still in kennels so I didn't need to think of his needs. Think we need to get some advice from Dogs' Trust (where he came from) as he's quite possessive and we don't want him to hurt Baby J but then him feel rejected. Other people cope with dogs and babies, just hope we can too.
We've also had so many visitors that I feel a need just to hide for a few days or go to my parents (they don't live close like the in-laws).

Well, I've been feeding for the last hour yet Baby J still looks wide awake. Booo, need to see the back of my eyelids for a bit longer.

  • Thanks for the welcome ladies. Here's a little info from me:

    Baby arrived: 13/12/12, 7.37am
    Name: Joel (7lb 14oz)
    First baby

He's currently wide awake, despite feeding for a good hour since 2.30. Going to try him on the other side to see if it knocks him out for a few hours.

I had the baby blues for quite a while whilst nursing. Now I'm bottle feeding, they seem to have gone away. I'm still taking the domperidone but I'm struggling to express 6 tines a day for 40min as advised by the mw. My boobs hurt and I'm getting ridiculously tiny amounts. I came to terms with the fact that I might not be able to breastfeed, though. I'll finish the week and decide what to do.

Mine also have some hour when she'll be wide awake and we would not know what to do, sometimes she's fine just being in her moses, though. I feel that these last couple of days she's eating much more. Today she had a period when she'd ask for food every hour for about four hours. When do they have the first growth spur? Is it at 3 weeks?

Mine was awake but crying a minute ago, I think she needed winding and cuddles. She has fallen sleep again, but she keeps making noises in her sleep, I'm not sure if she's dreaming or if she's uncomfortable, or if she'll wake up again soon :-/ I guess it takes time to get to know the meaning of different sounds.

TMI ahead: I'm just wondering if my current discharge is normal or if I should go to the GP. I'm not bleeding anymore but I'm getting a yellowish /green watery discharge that has quite a foul smell :( is that just part of the healing.process?
