has anyone done a combination of baby led weaning and spoon feeding? did it work ok? i am thinking of getting this book
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Weaning-Made-Easy-feeding-baby-led/dp/1905410697/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1354462443&sr=8-5
also did weaning mean your baby went longer between feeds during the night. this is all i am hearing from my mum at the mo or give him a dummy. argh
she also said what a load of rubbish when i explained baby led weaning to her.
niall slept 40 mins, 2 and a half hours, 2 hours then another 2 hours, knackering. luckily dh gave me a lay in but he cant do that on weekdays.
bit annoyed at dh as he said it was ok for his bro and girlfriend to visit when i had already told them we were busy. they didnt tell us what time they were arrivng and came just as he was falling asleep in the sling, so he woke up. gave them half an hour with him then i took niall upstairs to get him to sleep. i am very protective of his naps so he isnt too grouchy in the evening. he was in the sling so i have stayed upstars on the computer. they have just left i was worried they wouldnt go until he woke.we couldnt get rid of them ;ast time they came

What did people do before they had blenders and mushers Jedi? BLW of course, it's not a new concept, just a new name. If you want to do exclusive BLW stick to your guns, food before 1 is just for fun is the motto. Babies will get all the nutrients they need from milk until 12 months. So anyone who is saying they'l be malnourished with BLW, it's absolute nonsense. That being said, it's your baby, your choice
We started with spoon feeding, and then moved onto finger foods.
I'd say you get BLW (which is no purees, baby eats what you eat) and then you get spoon feeding/purees and finger foods which is the more traditional way to go. Neither is right or wrong, it's what suits you xx
With the sleeping through the night, it didn't help us, we were early weaners due to reflux so around 17/18 weeks and he didn't sleep through until around 27/28 weeks I'd say.
Be as protective as naps as you need to be, I am protective of A's still at 10 months, he is a grouchy horror without them. People are forever telling me "oh he doesn't need those" or "he sleeps too often/long" They don't have to live with him 24/7 I do, so we do it my way
Afm, I think I've just about finished my Christmas shopping :j few bits to get, but that can all be done online. Thank goodness as the city center is starting to get way too busy for taking the pram out.The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Until last week we were a kind of combo of blw and purees but I think we're all much happier now we've gone 100% blw - G definitely enjoys it much more. Deffo need something under the high chair though - I've got a value shower curtain from Argos that I cut in half. It gets messy! It hasn't really helped with his sleep though, we went through a phase of being up 5-6 times a night before we started and now we're down to2-3 times a night but I think that's more coincedence as he doesn't really eat enough to make a difference at the moment I think.
Well done on the Xmas shopping gilly! I've made a start but still a fair bit to do. Doing it mainly online though as I can't stand Xmas shopping with all the crowds.
Edited to add - I've had similar comments re blw, and a few about how dangerous it is with the choking risk. I tend to just ignore them now, or smile and nod vaguely. It's not worth the effort I think.Newborn thread member

Ha you don't really want to be 'that' girl do you turtle?! Have you not had any booze while bfing? I'm a bad mummy - I've had the odd cider or glass of wine. Only one at a time though. And some winter pimms on bonfire night. He's survived with no ill effects so far. In fact, we're at the in laws' for dinner now, wonder if they've got the usual bottle in the fridge…
And I'm damn well having my sherry on Christmas Day this year! Missed it last year with being preg but not this time, sure one sherry won't hurt
I drink too, although not like I used to
About 2% of alcohol the mother consumes makes it through into the breastmilk, i.e. very little. A good rule of thumb - if you're OK to drive, you're OK to feed."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

Ha I drink about the same as I used to, I've always been a light weight! Got a wild berry cider on the go at the moment. LovelyNewborn thread member

Sometimes nothing but a nice cold beer will do
I had a pint at the wedding, was lovely, haven't had a draught pint in a looooong time!
Ladies, have any of you gone jogging/running with your pushchairs? If so, was it ok, did you feel baby was safe, did you buy a special pushchair for it?0 -
Good god no, my running is me time, earphones in, no screamy baby. I don't think my pram would be good for it as its very much a 'city' pram if that makes sense, big back wheels little fronts wheels. I think if you had one that was better suited to rougher terraine it would be fine for running xxThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

Ive only run a tiny bit when I was late for a docs appt and the pram was ok (mothercare spin). G looked oblivious! But it was on a pavement so pretty smooth. If I was going to do it regularly I'd want a pram with proper air tyres, I think something like the maxi cosi mura maybe. But I can't run anyway (dodgy knees) so wasn't a consideration for me.
In bed now, hoping that maybe tonight will be the one where he starts miraculously sleeping through. Got to think positive, right?!Newborn thread member

i hate running, i loathe and despise it. BUT i used to have a boyfriend who ran marathons and I used to run with him sometimes (obviously he had to go slow for me lol) and while I hated it, I loved the effect it had,so I'd like to start again. HOWEVER I don't have anyone to have reuben, so if I'm going to do it, he's going to have to come with!
he loves the footmuff thing and dozes off in it really easily, I was thinking I could make it at nap time and the warmth/motion would send him off.
just worried about the safety aspect of it really, don't want to tip him out of it or knock him over!
I would be running on pavement only, if I do it.
this is my pushchair:0
