I wouldn't want that to happen - they wouldnt be my babies, someone else would have carried them, birthed them and nurtured them. I'd just have chucked a few living cells their way, that's all. So that puts me off massively
Absolutely. I'm ambivalent about the ability to find your genetic parent. On the one hand I appreciate how it can 'complete the picture' for the child. On the other, I think it's a violation of the donor's privacy and will put many donors off (in fact, this is known to be the case).
I completely understand why the opportunity to seek your birth parent is critical if you're adopted, else you might never come to terms with any feelings of abandonment you may have. However, you're not 'abandoned' if you're born of a donor egg or sperm. Someone's just given a bit of genetic material away - not a baby. I liken it far more to donating blood or organs, and in both of those cases, you can't find out who your donor is, so why eggs or sperm?"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
That's a very good comparison, to organ/blood, and I agree with you It's the same thing.
If it werent for organ donation, my brother would have died before I was even born, so I feel very strongly about that and get right up on my soap box when people say they don't like it cuz its "weird"...fine if you have a genuine reason like religion etc but just cuz you think it's a bit icky? Makes me very cross. I also think the suggestion that everyone should autmoatically be a donor unless you opt out is the way to go, and anybody who opts out is NOT eligible to receive a donor organ themselves (with exceptions for if there is a medical reason you cant donate yourself).
how fab for you to get 7! Do you think you will try for another in the future? I'd love more
Even though he is not from your egg, it was still your placenta and umbilical cord that fed him, your body that grew him and birthed him. That's bloody amazing!
Maybe when I am a more seasoned mummy i may feel more comfortable about the "finding" part of donation. I suppose just because they *can* find me doesn't mean they would. Hmm.
Thank you for sharing your experience - you've definitely brought the idea of donation back to the front of my mind.0 -
Katie lol re jumberoo....when I showed my husband what one was he wanted one but I am already feeling boxed in with baby things.
Feeling very sleepy today....lo wouldn't sleep in his Moses last night he just kept crying couldn't work out what was wrong. In the end he came into bed with us as we both just needed some sleep. Can't wait for dh to get home as going up for a nap then fish and chips for tea.
Going shopping tomorrow will be away for6 hours which is the longest time away from Niall hoping retail therapy will prevent me from missing him too much.
Very interesting the winners of mother and baby awards. I would love to be a tester!

Hi all
Been trying to hunt down a nativity play costume today but everywhere was sold out! School only let me know yesterday what part Oliver was playing.
Managed to order an outfit to be delivered to Asda (click and collect) so can hopefully pick it up tomorrow evening.
Sunshine - hope you are enjoying your day off with Aiden.
Bought a tube of milky bar buttons for Noah today so I'm going to give him them instead of an advent calendar, I'm sure a few chocolates won't do him any harm. It is Christmas after all!! :xmassmile

aha finally got on to read the mother and baby award winners.
Breastfeeding product - well no surprise that lansinoh cream won, that stuff is a miracle cream!!! The pads (awarded silver) were good too, I gave them a high score. Can't believe the Emma Jane bra got shortlisted, I thought it was rubbish. And the theraline wynnie feeding cushion - love love love loved this!
skincare - Yes the booboo baby stuff is absolutely wonderful. I really love it, so gentle which is handy as Reuben now has eczema (although seems to be being kept at bay so far fingers crossed). Smells lovely - these were my absolute faves. Surprised that the green baby stuff made it to shortlist though, I thought they all smelled really weird. The Organic Babies range was nice too, especially the really thick cream thing - that was excellent on dry skin (both me and Reu!)
aimless what did you think of the posh ones, was it called MERINO or something like that? tiny bottle of oil and tiny pot of cream? I wasn't impressed really, no different to any other oil (bio oil etc). Certainly glad I didn't pay for it!
jedi have fun shopping!!0 -

If your baby is a hand chewer like mine, and this cold weather has made their wet little faces a bit sore around the gob, whack some lansinoh on. Works a treat"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Hello all
Hope everyone and babies are all well
We had a lovely day today with Aiden. OH is off on Fridays too, up until Xmas he is using his holiday up. We went to meet my dad for coffee in town, took Aiden into work to meet some staff who hadn't met him. Then we went swimming and had a bit of lunch in the cafe. Aiden slept for 2hrs 45mins after  I was worried he would be late going to bed, but he was tired normal time.
OH has gone out for a works meal, so I ordered myself some pizza
Hope everyone has lovely weekends xxLittle Man born 11 March 2012 :smileyhea
