  • I cut the end off Freddie's finger trying to do his nails.

I did that too on his thumb just a bit of blood and not much crying thank god. I now have a baby with scratchy nails as I am not keen on cutting them.

Well we've finally been swimming! Don't know what I was so worried about! George is a pro, didnt bat an eyelid when we first went in and I sat him on my knee and as soon as I let him float on his tummy (with a hand under him) he got the biggest grin on his face! Had the baby pool almost completely to ourselves, just one other dad with his two kids.

Thanks Nutella, not sure I have the nerve to go completely cold turkey, would be happy to get him down to one feed but even that seems impossible at the moment. I've been picking him up til hes quiet then putting him down with our sleep cue. With being in a flat I don't feel I can let him cry in the night really, but it might be that the neighbours just have to deal with it for a few nights if that's the only way.

Turtle - I've just discovered one way of tricking LO into not snatching your grub - I got some shortbread fingers and was just tucking into one and blocking his sticky mitts trying to grab it when inspiration struck! We've got some Heinz biscotti fingers in the cupboard that look pretty similar - so he's happy munching on that while I've got my super high in sugar and fat version. Nomnomnomnom Judging by how quick its gone down I think its going to be an occasional treat - must be nice and sweet for him to finish it so quickly and neatly!

Crikey what an epic post. Apologies!

  • 9oz weight gain in a week for Niall so feeling more relaxed and have been told not to go for another weigh in for 3/4 weeks it can get obsessive lol
Not sure how much to cut expressing down to, still expressing 3 times a day and giving 150ml of expressed milk.

Ordered a dehumidifier which arrived today, house gets mouldy without one cos of drying washing inside. Anyway it's a yucky yellow, didnt realise this. Now wondering whether to keep or not.

Boo hoo for the jumberoo being pack away. We have no room for one as live in a small 3 bedroom house.

Just wondered how often ladies bf when lo is eating 3 meals?

Great weight gain Jedi! Re bfing and 3 meals a day - G hasa 3 meals but as we're mainly blw he doesn't actually eat that much yet. I'm hoping he'll start taking more soon rather than just chucking it all over the living room! I feed probably every 3-4 hours during the day now, I know I'm feeding more than a friend who's son is the same age and being fed purees.

Ha we're in a one bed flat and we've got a jumperoo squeezed in next to the telly and behind my office desk ;)

Gosh i took Reu upstairs for a nap at 4:45..w.eve both just woken up!

I haven't had a nap in the day time since he was about 3 months! I must have needed it though as I didn't even realise I was nodding off, and I feel really good now. I might start napping again!

Okayy I'm back, bit of an epic day (and not in a good way!)

R.e the night wakings, if you definitely know it's not hunger and it's all comfort then I think the cold turkey can be the easiest way, I think for some babies it can be confusing if you're reducing etc they haven't read the books after all :D but it's whatever you're comfortable with, thankfully we done self settling long before he didn't need night feeds anymore, so he sort of just dropped his feeds himself when he didn't need them any which was around 6 and a half months. Before that he'd wake, take his bottle and go straight back over, he's gone to sleep on his own since around 13 weeks which was the main thing for us, I didn't mind him waking for food, but it was the time spent settling him back to sleep that was so knackering. If that even makes sense :o

Wow on the swimming Katie, we've still not gone :( but we don't have a car and that's a big thing as I don't wanna be bringing him out into the cold afterwards. We walk everywhere.

Brilliant weight gain Jedi, you're doing brilliantly with the breast feeding and putting in so much effort, so it must be good to see the scales going up for Niall.

Afm, day from hell. I pre-order A's prescription online, and then just go pick it up, so I can see in text exactly what I'm ordering but they never get it right. So when I went to pick it up about 2pm they only gave me 2 out of the 3 items, and when I asked where the other was apparently I didn't order it, but I could hang about until 5.30 to collect if I wanted or go back. I'd just walked 1.5 miles to get it and would have to walk the same back to the pharmacy. So I said no I'll just collect it another day as I have some spare anyway, and then noticed one of the other things he gets was wrong, it was the adult version (this has happened a few times) so I mentioned it to the receptionist who said "oh it's fine just say to the pharmacist" which I thought was complete BS but was told oh it'l be fine, guess what it wasn't. So I now have a useless prescription and will have to go back tomorrow to get it :(

We then decided to go out for a bite to eat, A was sleeping in his pram when we got into the place, but woke up while we were eating out starters, I think he was so unsettled when he woke as he didn't know where he was, put him in the highchair, he turned around seen another diner, didn't like the look of him obviously and went into complete meltdown which he never does, cried so much he projectile vomited, all over me and we had to cancel our mains and come home. Having a cuppa and a cake now, diet can go to hell today! Let's hope tomorrow is a better day.

    Wow. EPIC post. Apologies xx

  • Crikey gilly what a horrid end to a meal out!

Yeah I drove to the pool and its not far for us really, wouldn't have fancied walking him home in the cold. Was good though, looking forward to going again!

It is definitely the settling him that's the killer. I don't know what to do really, I think he does need one feed, usually around 4 he always has a decent go but the earlier ones hes only on for a few seconds before he's asleep again. He's just started putting himself to sleep again in the day after weeks of me having to feed him to sleep and I didn't do anything to make that happen, which makes me think just feed him when he wakes and he'll sort it out himself when he's ready. Or that could just be the tiredness talking ;):o

Gilly, boo to a horrible day - tomorrow WILL be better!

    Katie, yay for swimming!

We walk to the swimming pool and back, it's about 20 minutes each way and it's fine. She wears her coat and a hat to cover wet hair, and tucked into the cosy toes on the pram she's nice and toasty and never gets cold on the way home. Not that she'd notice if she did - she's asleep before we've even left the building!

LO and I are off to Rotterdam tomorrow morning to visit a good friend of mine. I think I'm going to leave my laptop at home and take a break from the online world, so I'll catch up with you all on Monday evening/Tuesday... :)

Have a good night all x
