You can try if you like, but you'd be disappointed.

I gave you good advice, without this extra piece of information. Now you've dropped the bombshell that she buys everything with your knowledge and say so, then what's the actual problem?

Sorry chap, but sounds like you have set yourself enough rope to hang.

What are you afraid of if you say 'no'?
;49841615]LOL. I thought my rate was pretty average to be honest. I know people who get double what I do.

far from it, although it depends what you're doing in IT. I'm guessing it's not a tech support role for that amount; project management?

Yes, she does have ideas to spend money and without me she probably would be in serious financial trouble if left to her own devices. But, she doesn't go and just spend it. Ultimately, I guess its up to me to decide if we can afford it.

Yes, it is annoying that she keeps having all these ideas to spend though. I think perhaps here attitude to debt is if you can afford it why not?

As for the separate money thing - never going to work. Dont want to do that anyway. Another complication is that the income I have is via a limited company of which we're both shareholders, so money comes out in personal dividends. Even though I do the work the income is split so I can hardly (or even legally) say its not hers !!!
This answer completely changes everything surely? Ultimately it is up to you to decide whether you can afford it or not so what is the problem? She asks you say yes and then you bemoan the financial status you both have and will not have seperate bank accounts or say no ? Don't get it.

Advice and opinion fair enough. But is there any need to be rude?

Not project management or development for that matter. It is tech support albeit slightly specialist. I've been lucky that I've got 20 years+ of experience of what I do.....

I've done Windows support in the past but thats often proven to be a bit of a low payer unfortunately....

yeah it is. I'm hitting £21.60 at the minute for second line but going back to a regular contract on £16.16 in a few weeks although they're decent rates compared to a lot of contracts I see coming through. You need to be specialised to hit the decent money, SAP / bespoke software etc.

Thats pretty rough. I tend not to do any Windows support any more. I'm mainly unix and specialised network management stuff.

I'll miss the extra money but I got lucky as it was only supposed to be £18 and they messed up. Although it costs £75 a week in petrol and I'm up at half 5. So although it's less money it's a 4 mile commute, better looking women, and a standard 9 - 5.
