I had to pay $5 to receive a letter at Orleans. I think that's the standard charge for any item there.

    Hi
More vdara advice please as I'm staying there in march.

Is it worth trying the $20 trick for an upgrade. We have the deluxe suite but really want a fountain view
Do you need to pay for a sun bed by the pool? Daft question but do you get changed by the pool or just go up in your cossie?
Can you use the spa for free without getting a treatment. Is there a sauna etc?
Any shops nearby for buying beers n snacks?

    Phew! Ta x

As mentioned above, I would just ask about upgrades, not wishing to sound snooty but I don't think the Vdara is the kind of place where the $20trick is really appropriate - in so much that if you're nice and friendly, they would upgrade you if they could. maybe a nice email to the hotel in advance would be good - we did that last time and they had our request on record when we checked in. plus they seem to like UK guests, so just be nice and friendly is my advice :)

you don't need to pay for a poolside bed - you can buy/hire day beds (literally a bed out near the pool, or a cabana (a little away from the pool, but with bespoke service, TV, a/c etc.)

you can go down in your swimming cossie, you don't need to walk through the lobby/hotel to get to the pool, it has its own lift entrance/exit (3rd floor i think) which goes straight out onto the poolside area. but etiquette is to go down dressed in a wrap/tshirt/sarong, etc. just so you're not just in your swimwear. they give out towels as soon as you get to the pool area which you leave with them when you're done. they also have great poolside drinks/food service, you don't need to get up to go to the bar - plus they come round with samples of the frozen cocktails ;)

We never used the spa, so best to look on the website about what you can/can't do, etc :)

there is Market Vdara in the lobby where you can get food/alcohol/snacks etc it has a cafe too for coffee, breakfast, sandwiches, etc. It's a bit pricey, but is right there.

If you go out the main entrance of the Vdara and into the Aria, on the righthandside as you go in, there is a clothing shop, which has a store at the back selling snacks, gifts, newspapers, etc. (opposite the Jean Philippe chocolate flowers before you reach the casion)

otherwise, as mentioned, there's CVS a block down towards Monte Carlo, on the same side of the strip (go through the Aria) or ABC in the Miracle Mile (go through Bellagio and over the Strip) and a Walgreens somewhere too.

I am bit confused ! can you see the Bellagio fountains from Vdara, i assumed the cosmopolitan was in the way but I havent googled it.

you can kind of... I took this photo from our room in July - we asked if we could have a room (free upgrade to an executive corner suite, fairly high up) on that side of the building, as we stayed on the other side before (looking out over Luxor). the black building you can see encroaching the right of the photo is the Cosmopolitan.

    hope that helps!

Thanks, I thought the Cosmo would be in the way, you would have to be very lucky I would imagine to get a room with even that partial view
  • Hi everyone,

I used this forum last time I went to Vegas 4 years ago, and now I’m going back with my wife-to-be on our honeymoon!

We’re going for 5 days in May this year, staying at the Bellagio. Last time I went, it was mainly for the gambling, so this time, I could do with some hints about amazing restaurants and good shopping??? Also, what’s our best plan with the Bellagio swimming pool? Will we always get a sunbed, or do we need to book something??? And finally, which shows/gigs are recommended – and is it best to pre-book, or try and get cheaper tickets when we’re there???

Thanks for any tips you guys have!!!

IIRC the Bellagio has several pools and you don't need to book anything.

Sit down with a cup of coffee and have a good read of Page 1 of this thread. Then come back if you still have questions.

  • Hi Guys,

First time poster so go easy on me please!!
Firstly can I say there is some great info on here so thanks to everyone for posting…it’s really helpful!!

If I am booking a hotel for eight blokes on a golfing holiday…how would I go about getting the best deal?
For example should we book as a group or individually?

Also, if I am using the $20 trick…is that $80 for four rooms or $160 for 8 people?
Or does the $20 cover everyone?

Finally, if you had the choice of Bally’s or MGM Grand which would you go for? And which type of rooms?

    Thanks

Just booked! April 5th - April 11th with KLM, staying in Vdara. I can't wait!

Does anyone know what the current restaurant.com discount code is?

There is no hard and fast rule about the $20 trick. I would say per room though, not per person. And I would definitely choose the MGM Grand over Bally's.
