The static is due to the generally low humidity. The only place I've ever been that was worse than Las Vegas was Denver. I lived there for a short time, and shopping was a nightmare! I got shocks off the shopping trolleys, freezers, just about everything.
Yeah, I always find Walmart the worst. A couple of "Bounce" cloths in the pockets does help though.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Bounce? I thought your favourite brand was snuggles. Of course now here's another reason to stay at the Platinum - free anti static sheets.

    wait, what?!

Did I know that was coming and just forgot?
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

It was mentioned a while ago, but I think this is the first time the closing date has been announced.
Vegastripping has some pictures of what it's going to look like.

This picture is absolutely brilliant! Completely sums up Vegas. Only thing that's missing is food!

    Hi,

I've posted b4 about ideas for vegas trips but i've been checked for October 2013 between 27th and the 2nd for 4 nights

We are from Birmingham but can go from anywhere really!

How much should i expect to pay for a decent hotel and flights? Are we looking at 750/900 or more or less?

Sorry to be a bit vague with you as i know its not helpful but just open to ideas basically!

    Thanks guys.

I also play the myvegas game and i have 40K of points if i can sort a deal for MGM suite etc then would be amazing!

    Barclay card 0% - £2000 - £150 DD a month

You should be able to get return flights for £550-£600 (indirect) if you look around. Direct probably more like £800.

It's good that you have a bit of flexibility with your dates, you should be able to get a decent deal.

Hotels will be cheap in general, depends where you want to stay obviously. Rates for Friday and Saturday nights are much higher, so if you want to keep costs down it might be an idea staying from the Sunday to the Thursday or the Monday to the Friday. If there's two sharing a room you could probably get somewhere quality for about $30-$50 pppn.

Not really a trip report, as it would be pretty boring by most peoples standards, but since people were kind enough to answer my questions recently I thought I would return to give a few comments on my past trip.

Prior to this trip we have been to Vegas 3 times, and stayed in MGM twice and Venetian once. We were not supposed to be going this year (apparently there is a big world out there), but my partner had a rough couple of months and since flights in November for a week were £500 each (with meals, 20kg luggage and extra leg room) we decided to book.

Anyway, we simply had a really relaxing time. We had porridge in our hotel room in the morning before heading out for the day. We just walked from hotel to hotel, had something to eat about 5 o’clock, and then spent most evening leisurely playing slots and having a few drinks.

The best thing we did was going up the Stratosphere tower. It was the first time we have been up it in the day and we absolutely loved the views.

MGM. We love the MGM in general, and it feels like home to us, but whilst the renovations are going on it is not at its best at the moment. The new carpet is terrible.

TI, Venetian, Wynn. We played the slots for about a hour in each 1 and we were never offered a drink. Everywhere else we went was fine.

    Flights.
Thomas Cook. Nothing to report really. We got on, we sat for 10 hours (read mostly as the entertainment system was very poor), and we got off.

    Hotels.
Carriage House. We stayed here the night we landed. MGM Signature wanted £150 for this night, and Carriage House was £60. We had a standard room on the 8th floor and it was very nice. I would consider it again if the price was right, but not in the summer as the pool was not that great. The only thing to note is that the hotel next door is having major work done and I can imagine that it could cause some problems.

    MGM Signature.
We got a deal that was 3 nights for the price of 2. We stayed 6 nights at a cost of £65 per night (including resort fee). We were on the 27th floor of tower 3 looking up to the strip. The room was fantastic, and all in all I was very impressed. I will definitely stay here again. The location for me was fantastic, either straight out and up to Planet Hollywood, or along the walkway to MGM (and then either out on to the strip or on the Monorail up to Harrahs).
