I asked for an upgrade once, but didnt get one, i now always ask for a high floor, usually get floor 18, if you want a view of the back of the strip then ask for that as well, they are usually accomodating and i normally check in at about 10am

All the rooms i have had have been identical, only the view has changed

Floors 20 and 21 are the upgraded rooms. They charged me $5 per night for the privilege 2 years ago but this year we got them for nothing.

The decoration is a little improved and the TV is flat screen. Additionally the hallway is all round nicer. Definitely worth a request on check in or even an email prior to travel.

May try again in April but nights are comped again

Comped at the Orleans photome. Always find the check in staff very accommodating and as you pointed out they never seem to mind an early check in. Most of the strip hotels want to charge.

Our room at Orleans had a flat screen TV and it was one of the lower floors. The top two floors are where the suites are too. They really don't have very many suites at all.

I have been on floor 21 in a standard room, and the only difference apart from the TV was higher ceilings.

I have never heard of anyone getting an upgrade to a suite with the $20 trick there.

I had assumed carefreeguy had got a suite but reading your post I am guessing, he/she got one of the above.

I also had a flat screen TV on floor 18, but do fancy trying to get floor 20/21 to get the special access in the lift:D

No suite Photome. Room layout was exactly the same as those on lower floors that I've stayed in previously. I think maybe the carpets, bedding & curtains had been changed. The bathroom hasn't been touched at all. When you next visit pop up to floor 20 and as soon as you exit the lift you'll see what I mean.
